Re: No TX or RX ¡ª Seeking Next Steps for Troubleshooting
#qmx
Joe- When I first powered up my QMX+ I had the same issue; no reception and this mysterious "S" on the display (which I now know signifies that the SWR protection circuit tripped). As George

Re: It¡¯s Summers-time!
Hi Bill, On the left is a ZM-2 antenna tuner. The antenna is a EFHW trimmed to be resonant at the CW end of 20m. I used the tuner to keep the SWR at 1:1, especially at the SSB end of the band. The

Nick- I initially ran into the same problem.? Every volume control I could find in Windows was maxed out to 100%, but on most bands the WSJT "audio level bar" was barely moving.? I remember that 20

CW Practice / Rag Chew
Michigan QRP Club On May 09 I had a CW practice / rag chew session on 20 meters. I worked two stations: Conditions were poor with heavy QSB. SSN = 84, SFI = 149, A = 12, K = 2. I was using my Elecraft

Re: Hermes Light 2 vs. QMX+
Thanks, Sean. I may need to investigate what added capabilities an RPi thrown into the mix might provide. Best,. Frank

Re: Hermes Light 2 vs. QMX+
Qmx is basically nothing like a hl2 and will not be a network device that you control entirely from the computer. The qmx will be more like typical radios in that you can send commands via cat control

Re: QMX+ Build - No Power on Diagnostics screen (pressing T)

Shame you didn't stay at 7V until you had got everything working at that voltage.? You would still get about 2W which is plenty for testing and much less likely to destroy things.

Re: QMX+ Final failure on 12m
No luck. Replaced the finals again, although Q507 was still working. (I have spares on the way just in case.) Ran an LPF sweep at 8 volts on all bands, looked normal. Swept them all with a VNA, also

Re: No TX or RX ¡ª Seeking Next Steps for Troubleshooting
#qmx
Start by checking T507 for continuity.? You are seeing 0 W output and no Rx, that's the component that's involved in both Tx and Rx on all bands.? A bad solder joint in that could cause what you are

Re: It¡¯s Summers-time!
Looks like a QMX on the right. What is the rig on the left ? And, which antenna were you using? 72, Bill, N4QA/QRP in the New River Valley of Virginia, U.S.A.

USB audio level boost QMX+
I don¡¯t know if anyone else has experienced this, but I was checking out FT8 on 10M and the audio levels were in the red -too low, with no decodes, despite seeing faint signals on the waterfall.

Re: QRPLabs 50W Amplifier - 20V Power Supply Solution
FWIW, I recently bought a small chainsaw on Amazon for about $32 that included TWO 21 volt batteries similar to the one you show, and of course a charger. There seems to be quick progress in this kind

Re: To socket or not to socket, that is the question!
It's less of a problem with turned pin sockets than with the cheaper flat contact type. Early Apple II computers (1978-1982) used to suffer from chip creep. I used to fix them for the local computer

Re: To socket or not to socket, that is the question!
Well perhaps you are confident. ? Like tektronics R&S and many other professional equipment makers in the 70¡¯s who moved to sockets and were then subject to a huge failure rate after a few years.
