Re: BS170 pinout
Hello Wolfgang, Yes, you're right, hmmm, this one is for Hercule Poirot :-)) Regards, YO3GFH op. Adrian

Re: BS170 pinout
It may depend on the supplier and stocks. Out of curiosity, I've checked Mouser, and it seems the

Re: BS170 pinout
I have encountered the wrong pin-out on transistors purporting to be BS170s that I ordered from China. These have the source and drain swapped over (see attached photo), so I I had to fit them

Re: QMX on a stick - a minimalistic SOTA activation #qmx
What kind of usb-c converter are you using? I tried simple usb-a power bank (5V out) and dc-dc buck to step up; worked surprisingly good for receive (no additional noise) but it would add a terrible

Re: BS170 pinout
Adrian, on page 6 in both data sheets the "Pin Array" is D-G-S. So, there is probably an error on page 1 of the December, 2021 ? Rev. 6 data sheet. 73 Wolfgang DK4RW

Re: BS170 pinout
I recall a quote (it might have even been on this Group) saying something like "the wonderful thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from!" 73 Brian G3ZOH

Re: BS170 pinout
I've never seen it either. And since the universe de facto hates me, I'd have thought by now it ought to have taken the opportunity to pollute my BS170'isms with a batch of mixed up pinouts.

Re: BS170 pinout
Adrian, No I did not notice the PDFs! I did look and did not find any with the different pinout. I have been using Softrock RXTXs for 15+ years, QCX, QDXs also BS170s for other purposes.. Unless my

Re: BS170 pinout
Hello Alan, It is very real, unfortunately. One of our local shops (https://rowaves.com/) specifically warns about differences between Fairchild and Onsemi BS170 variants. And you can see my above

Re: BS170 pinout
Really Adrian? Maybe this has been mentioned before but I do not remember. The BS170 is used in so many home-built rigs and has been for many years. 73 Alan G4ZFQ

Re: BS170 pinout
...and it gets even more beautiful :-) ONSEMI *used* to make BS170 that way... until end of 2021... from April 2022, they seem to follow the Fairchilld way (D-G-S) So, when you buy a batch, I wonder

Re: BS170 pinout
And if you thought: it couldn't get worse! Well, yes it can :-) ONSEMI makes D-S-G BS170 :-))) So, we have it almost all ways, D-G-S, S-G-D, D-S-G Beauty! Regards, YO3GFH op. Adrian

Re: BS170 pinout
Peder, I would be very suspicious. I've never known anyone say genuine BS170s have different pinouts. Be careful, failed PA transistors can damage the driver and also other components. 73 Alan

BS170 pinout
Good morning. Just a reminder to those of you who need to replace the BS170 in the finals (QCX/QDX/QMX). Carefully check the pin order so you don't end up with transistors that have swapped pins

Re: #qmx PTT Control #qmx
One more for the pile: I have both QMX 80-20M and 20-10M versions, both are working like champs, excellent DX all around, running 014 firmware. But PTT isn't working at all on either version of the

Just had a thought, you do have Minicom not running when you try to connect to Wsjtx don't you? 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

Re: QDX, brand new, in a confused serial state, after several good RX bandhopping days. #dev #edu #serial #wspr #documentation
I'd use putty from the Pi. Minicom is an old terminal emulater. Used it on 386 computers. It sounds like the way it handles end-of-line is not configured properly. If I remember correctly it can
