Blue screen of death U3s
All,
The other week my U3s stopped working, it coincided with a nearby thunderstorm. I had been tx'ing wspr and qrss at the time, noticed spots had ceased, checked U3s and just a blank blue screen, the QLG2 lights were all still blinking. So far, replaced MCU with new one from Hans, changed screen in case this one had burnt out, listened to 27MHz crystal, checked all wiring secure. I have the OCXO fitted, this still heats up.? I believe that the clock on the SI5351 chip on board the OCXO has stopped working, I will probe the outputs to the MCU and PA this weekend, presumably if the 5351A unit is toast then the mcu will not output any text to screen or output power. Filter relay board fitted. There's very little that can go wrong on the U3s unlike some other kits, I did have the plain 5351A board but gave it away so unable to do a quick swap and check. Other than the above any?thought's on other suggestions to look at. Andy -- The universe is made up of Protons, Neutrons, Electrons but contains only one M0RON. |
Re: QDX xmit one flash
开云体育Wayne,I'm not a Windows guy, but in Linux sometimes the QDX soundcard can get assigned to the wrong device, such as HDMI or something of the sort and it has to be corrected to get it to work with the QDX. 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

Re: QDX xmit one flash
Ok. Sorry Wayne. I am out of ideas, Windows is not my scene.
Maybe someone else can help.

Maybe. I did check them all and they all ohmed out correctly. So, during my troubleshooting, I came across this error again:
I'm still thinking this is either a sound card problem (I know there isn't a separate sound chip; the sound card is embedded in the microcontroller) or some stupid and rediculous sound setting in my computer that I just can't find. Wayne |
Re: QRP antenna tuner?
I cannot recommend the ATU-100 Chinese look alike after having built one. If left in the automatic mode, it goes through a re-tuning cycle EVERY time you go into transmit mode even if you do not change the transmit frequency. As has been mentioned, there is no restriction on how bad the SWR can get during the tuning or retuning cycle. In the manual mode, you can step through the inductance values or the capacitance values. BUT if you change from one to the other, the setting of what you changed from will reset to zero. This has been my experience, but your results may vary,

Re: QMX power on issue
Ed Pflueger-AB4IQ
Come on Bruce, get it right.? LOL..? I took a jumper from the RF connector shell and touched the ground connection on the power connector and it fired up.? I normally fill the holes up on the power connector but did not do it this time.? I filled up all 3 holes and all is well.

Re: QDX xmit one flash
Ok. So no output at the dummy load.
I would now start working backwards from the BNC socket centre pin, through the LPFs to the PA, checking for continuity. QDX turned off, ok!
I suspect you have a poorly soldered toroid.

It's analog and the needles do not move at all. I'm not sure about measuring the voltage across the dummy load, though. That I've never done. |

If you review the as designed turns and inductance and compare with

measured or even calculated inductance, you'll see why L513 turns need to be tight together or add one turn and spread them. I mod L513 on my builds and leave the rest of the LPF inductors alone (evenly spread). To each his own. -mike/w1mt On Thu, Aug 24, 2023 at 7:50?AM howard winwood G4GPF <winwoodh@...> wrote:

Re: QMX and FT8CN audio issue - strange issue
Did anyone already find a solution for the problem with FT8CN?
Sometimes the first transmission works, often even not the first one. The QMX just shows two Dots, as a sign of not enough signal and no tx signal at QMX. Changing the Riese Threshold did not change the behaviour... With WSJTx on Windows it is more reliable as long as you have the "Power Slider" on 100%, otherwise same situation with the two dots and no transmission |
Re: QDX xmit one flash
开云体育By 'a single slow flash', I am assuming you mean 'pulsing', while you hold down 't'. Good.
Does your dummy load have a power meter attached, or can you measure the voltage across the dummy load when transmitting? That will give an idea of whether your signal is getting all the way out to the antenna socket.

Re: accurate time source
Willie - yeah its kinda weird. Even if I go to clock settings and force an update it can sometimes not sync, even trying different servers. I assumed a wi-fi lag
Jim - JTsync sounds cool. Except for ft-8 I really dont care if the clock is off a few seconds.? -- regards, Bryan, N0LUF |

Why? Nobody will know the difference, you are chasing unicorns, leave it as it is and use it. On Wed, 23 Aug 2023, 19:18 Cliff, <ae5zaham@...> wrote:
