Re: CESSB Microphone

Yes, the QMX kit has a microphone.?

Re: High SWR -- QMX+

Update!
?
I¡¯m extremely thankful for the fast assistance to help me hone in on the issue. Hit the T507 with a strong dose of heat and I believe I may have resolved it!

I think I was so caught up in making sure the LPFs had continuity that I failed to check T507.
?
Going to check again after work.

Re: #qmx #ssb CESSB update (Controlled Envelope SSB) #qmx #ssb

Yes, there are drawbacks to a trade secret. Employees who know the trade secret and leave the company could use it at a competing employer assuming they¡¯re willing to risk a lawsuit. In Hans¡¯s case, he¡¯s the sole software developer and his software is encrypted so any unauthorized clone of his hardware is essentially useless without the software. Cloners are looking for an EASY way to steal another¡¯s work. They won¡¯t put in the extraordinary effort required to start a new software development effort from scratch, especially at the price point of QRP Labs products.

There is a drawback. If by some lucy coincidence you come up with the same receipe, you will be free to produce your own drink, under your own brand, thah will be tasting like the coke. And since nobody published it before, you will be able to successfully claim for patent. And if granted, you will be able to force Coca-Cola to stop their production as it violates your rights.

Re: High SWR -- QMX+

indeed, follow the PCB wiring and check the continuity there, this is how I found the JP501 problem

Re: High SWR -- QMX+

On the QMX there is the T507 transformer which is I believe for SWR, not sure if it's the same on the QMX+ but I would check the solder joints on those and test continuity.?

Re: High SWR -- QMX+

Chris,
?
For what it is worth, I've put images of my QRP labs experiments under photos in this groups.io. Jumper JP501 also tricked my once. Also the jumpers below the GPS receiver are tricky, and I nearly killed the LCD display and push buttons by soldering them on the wrong side. In the end everything does work.?

Re: High SWR -- QMX+

Just a quick comment.

The BNC WILL show as shorted with a multimeter since the meter is DC.?

( I learned that after cutting one of mine out before even first powering up. Jury rigged a BNCish dongle while waiting for an exact replacement from Turkey.? DOH! )

Thanks for your help.

Re: Tuning error - 60m band

Set "Band limits" to "None". P.51 of the operation manual v.26 refers.

Tuning error - 60m band

Hi, I have a problem with precise tuning in the 60m band - how to fix it?

Re: High SWR -- QMX+

Is the jumper installed between the two center pads of JP501?

Re: CESSB Microphone

Does the QMX come with a microphone on Rev.4 or is that user supplied? I see the space on the board. My QMX+ has it supplied but I would like a QMX for a handheld on 10 and 15 . That would be really cool.
I love little gimmicks!?

PTT Circuit for QMX and QMX+ #QMXplus

Hi All,
In anticipation of the eminent release of SSB by our resident C expert on the QMX, has anyone got a good design/circuit that we can all start working/building on for a PTT microphone, using the Mic port on the Qmx.? Don't say use the build-in mic, I am more thinking of a traditional PTT mic, but something we can build and not just go buy.

Re: Ear bud headphones that work well with the QMX #qmx #earphones

Hi Sandy, I¡¯m in the same boat. I¡¯ve got dozens of earbuds, IEMs, phone buds, space buds you name it. Sony, Etymotic, CCrane, Panasonic, JBL, Radio Shack, Apple (with the 3.5mm plug), Bose, and I keep coming back to using my dollar store ear buds! They are $1 (actually now $1.25 due to 25% inflation) with a frequency response to match, perfect for CW notes in the 400-800Hz region sounding really sweet for Morse and not much else. My only complaint is that they are not very rugged and many fall apart after a few uses BUT, if you superglue them back together, I¡¯ve got one pair going on 4 years now.?

I haven't seen much posted about this subject so I thought I might save someone some time and money. After trying many varieties of ear bud headphones these have worked the best for me for use in the QMX:?

They have the highest quality sound, more than sufficient volume and best price for value I have found. They also work very well in my android cell phone. Other brands either fall out of my ears, aren't loud enough or sound too tinny or buzzy. I now use these on all my QMX/QCX QRPLabs products. I will be interested to hear other peoples' choices and preferences. Sandy KB3EOF
