Re: Recording Message Memories

Also, you need to configure the message from the menu, if you were not doing so. ?I don't think you can edit the messages from the transmission interface.

Re: Recording Message Memories

There's a separate "Enable edit" setting in the CW Decoder menu that you need to enable, if you have not already.

Hope this helps,

Recording Message Memories

N1SP

I've used my QCX Mini for some time, but am just now trying to record some memories for the "Skeeter Hunt" contest. Granted, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but referring to pages 9 and 14 in the operations manual. I get the following results...

1) Long press of encoder- Results in "1" appearing at left bottom of screen, no text.

2) Short press of "Select " button - The number "1" disappears and an "M' appears beside the frequency display. (Perhaps these steps are to send, not record???)

3) When I key with my paddles, sidetone is heard and there is no power output.

4) After this process there is no message text recorded

I have tried this with the TX decoded both on and off. (When decoded is on, I do see what I am sending) I much prefer to record from my paddles but am willing to manually enter text- but no idea how to access the selectable characters.

Driving me nuts! Probably simple, but I just am not understanding it.

Thanks in advance for any step by step guidance.

Re: QMX with QLG2 GPS

Dear Hans, thank you for your clear and extensive reply. Yes I appreciate that you have many considerations and compromises to make. The QMX is a fantastic piece of electronic art and fun to build, thank you for that! Cheers and 73 de HA7RJA

It's another thing waiting on me for firmware... Will try to put it into the next release.

The use of a low-melting point alloy such as ChipQuik will be a tremendous help in getting the solder to flow without excessive heat.?
I also use a #15 scalpel blade to cut the individual leads right at the package and remove them singly instead of trying to melt all 28 (or whatever) leads at once; leadless packages do not offer this option so the QhipQuik is even more helpful.? This is the process we used on hi-rel spacecraft boards as it was the safest for the boards, the ICs were sent for failure analysis or scrapped so trying to keep them intact was pointless.
Good stereo magnification is immensely helpful.

QDX-M on 6 meters?

Has anyone tried to move the QDX-M to 6-meters? What changes had to be made to the firmware and the LPF? I know the performance may not be perfect but I'm looking to experiment with it. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Jim WB2LHP

Re: QDX - Stuck in transmit mode when using VOX even after disconnecting PC.

I know it may not seem like an RFI problem, but it still feels like an RFI problem from the given symptoms.

One of the problems that can happen is that the RF doesn’t make it out of the radio, but reflects internally, and causes things to get wedged.

I would check the entire output path from the final transistors through the output transformer and the low pass filters, including the BNC connector and whatever cables and adapters you use to connect to your dummy load, and even the dummy load itself.

Good luck! Intermittents are the worst!

Hi Billy

QMX is USB-2. Just uses a USB-C connector to carry it. So a USB-2 and adapters is fine.

I would still use RFI suppression even though you think it is not related.?

Re: #qmx video: 52 tips for building your QMX successfully #qmx

Here we found it easier to achieve precise alignment of the SMPS boards if the spacer nuts are NOT drilled out. The reason is that drilling them out, or shoving a soldering iron through them, either way distorts the shape of the nut so it no longer sits precisely. This is based on experience trying both ways here. So I will update the manual to remove the bit about drilling out nuts.?

So to clarify - The manual at Rev H currently says to burn or drill out the center of the spacer nuts on the power board - That is no longer recommended according to the video?

Re: #qmx video: 52 tips for building your QMX successfully #qmx

Hans says it’s best to do it as he shows in the video to keep the boards properly oriented. Looked really easy to do the way he demonstrated. It’s an ongoing process of finding the best solutions and updating the manual.?

Message repeat doesn't #qmx

Perhaps this has already been reported, but in the Message menu, setting Interval to 7 seconds, and repeat to 3 only sends the message once (Message 1, if it matters).
