Re: QMX (hi band) new build does not power up
Yes, I'm used to being careful with static too (I work in aerospace electronics), so I don't think I have fried anything on the board either.

Re: Weak receive on QMX version 1 - New build
Cliff,
Yes, I recently went through the RF sweeps on all of the bands and they don't look anything close to what's in the operation manual.? I just rewound L401 because it looked like I had 20 turns

QMX and MAT-705 Plus Tuner?
Has anyone tried or been successful using a MAT-705 Plus tuner with their QMX? My MAT-705 Plus works great with an IC-705 and I'd love to dual-purpose it with the QMX. I have a QRPoMeter between the

Re: BS170 Killer?
Chris,
A potential issue with the QDX is a spike at the end of a transmission over the 60-volt specified limit of the BS170.? The TN0110 is a possible solution, EXCEPT that it must be installed

Re: BS170 Killer?
Chris,
I thought someone had been playing with higher SWR on TN0110s?
Ahh, here it is: /g/QRPLabs/message/102260 and /g/QRPLabs/message/103918
With the TN060s.

Hi Band QMX on FT8
After one heck of a build effort and some minor troubleshooting, working FT8 with my QMX and indoor Mag Loop Ant is now possible!
Well, its really the Sun Spots doing the heavy lifting, but I will

Re: BS170 Killer?

Thanks for your insight.
I have two QDX and two QMX and have replaced BS170s? in all of them, some operator error but some, including my latest QMX 10-20m for no obvious reason.? I see people

Re: clock contrast mod
#clock
I believe this is a brightness not contrast resistor.? I wired it to a 250Ohm pot and installed on the back of my enclosure so I could vary the brightness at will.

Axel,
I have all the parts and still purchased PicKit 3 also.? It reduces any errors on my part when making changes.

Re: 5W mini transmitter for presetting the ATU
Hello Evan,
thanks for the tip. I had already seen this, but it doesn't seem to be that easy. Although I tinkered a bit with an Arduino uno
about two years ago, I still have no idea. :)
Now I've got

Chris,
I assume that AWR is a typo and should be SWR.? If that is correct, then the answer is both, though we have yet to find the specific impedance of an SWR that produces a high enough voltage to

Re: QMX (hi band) new build does not power up
That's interesting - I have observed the same behavior with my build. I'd earlier built a v1 low band QMX successfully. I ordered and built the v2 high band (for 9 volts) which shows the same behavior

Re: 5W mini transmitter for presetting the ATU
Axel,
Be careful, if you change the toroid to 5 turns the maximum allowed power becames 40-50 W.
You can frie the PIC controller with more than those 40-50 W.
