Re: qcx band conversion
Hans, Yes, thank you. The reason I am asking, for those of you interested, there is someone on QRZ dot com selling an unbuilt 20 because he wants a 40. I have a 20 and am waiting for a 40 but I will

Re: QCX to QLG1 cable: what are people using?
Two more notes: 1) the volume pot for my QCX arrived broken, was not obvious but I checked it with a multimeter before installing and it was infinite resistance across it. Later it fell to two pieces

Re: qcx band conversion
Hi John Correct. But LOW pass not band pass. To convert from 40m to 20m you would need 2x 180pF NP0 capacitors and 2x 390pF NP0 capacitors. All other components are in the QCX kit already, if you kept

Re: qcx band conversion
I just went back to the instructions again... Unless I am mistaken everything EXCEPT the BP is in the kit for all bands. The toroids in the BP kit are the same mix for 40 as they are for 20, the diff

Re: qcx band conversion
John you are correct, but it is more than a change to the LPF after the PA.? in addition there are several band-specific capacitors in the PA circuit itself.? someone with a good stash of parts can

Someone has a QCX-20 for sale, they are waiting?for a QCX-40. After looking at the instructions, as far as I see, the 20 can be made into a 40 easily. Any input from the group?

In praise of the TX instability mod #qcx
Hi, Just wanted to say that I have just performed the (resistor) TX instability mod, as detailed on the QRPLabs website and it works. I had an odd symptom where on key down you would sometime gets

Selling a built 40m QCX in the UK
Hi folks, I'm selling my assembled 40m QCX transceiver simply because it's not quite as suitable for a QRSS grabber as I hoped. I won't use it as a transceiver so it'll just sit here. It might as well

Re: QCX to QLG1 cable: what are people using?
USB cables are a good choice, IMO. I think the heavier gauge ones will have better shielding. I've seen chassis mount USB connectors are relatively easy to source. I suggest it as an alternative to

Re: QCX to QLG1 cable: what are people using?
Jerry, On all my U1s, U2s, U3s and now my QCX I use USB A for the GPS (and QLG1) and USB B on the Tx. That way I use a printer cable USB A<>USB B as they often hav a ferrite slug and are well

Alan, I plan to do some rigorous signal tracing tomorrow. So far I've looked at sections but not the entire signal train. That should tell me something interesting. We'll see... I replaced both
