Re: 11. Potentiometer tuning for the Ultimate3
Hi Glenn, Hans has been strangely quiet on this. I was quite disappointed when v3.12a was released with no mention of this. I still have two now aging projects that have stalled because of this

Re: QCX Toroid / Transformer Wire
All the wire needed is provided in the kit. If for some reason you need more, you could just use the same as what came in the kit. On the other hand, as mentioned in several posts, some are using a

Re: QCX Toroid / Transformer Wire
The only real question is whether the necessary number of turns will fit if you use the larger wire. Won't be a problem if you're building for 20 meters or higher. Might be if you're doing a 40 meter

Re: R17 and R24 values ?
Hi Luc Great! FYI the 10K resistor is not "extra" by chance. It is intentionally added so that people who wish to make the PA modification http://qrp-labs.com/qcx/qcxmods.html#pa can do so. 73

Re: [QCX] Q6 appears shorted/ blown (Pulled Q2, now Q1 gets hot immediately)
Boy, for someone that knows what they are doing (yeah right) I sure made some minor but silly mistakes on this thing. But thanks to the goodness of the group, am making headway. Thanks again, almost

Re: R17 and R24 values ?
You may want to check the value of the R47 100k pot as well - my kit has a 10k and two 20k trim pots in error. The 500ohm pot is on point.? Tip: a yellow stripe on a blue resistor = green stripe. It

QCX Toroid / Transformer Wire
A group of us are beginning our efforts to construct the QCX CW transceiver. We noted that the transformer wire size is specified (page 50) at #28 enamelled. The wire size for L1, L2, L3 and L4 is

Re: [QCX] Q6 appears shorted/ blown (Pulled Q2, now Q1 gets hot immediately)
Ok, so here is the current scoop. Found a small cold solder joint in the supply voltage chain. Not like me, used to be NASA certified back in the day. Probably in too big a hurry. Long story short,

[QCX] Oops! Think I fried my audio amplifier?
Hey, guys!? Relatively new ham here, this is my first CW rig - I rather ambitiously tried to build a BitX20A kit previously, but I'm still debugging it.? I jumped on the QCX as a simpler to build

Re: [QCX] Q6 appears shorted/ blown (Pulled Q2, now Q1 gets hot immediately)
The display back light is powered from the 12V line, but the electronics that drive the display (IC2) and the contrast pot are both powered from the 5V line. As Al says, check

Re: FSKCW on U3S QRSS 30m in preparation for New Year's Eve
Hi Al, The edges look to me as being too rapid to be thermal drift, More like as you say RF / Noise induced on the supply rails. (Assuming the receiver audio is clean & without earth loops...) Have
