Way back in?the dawn of time I worked at a microelectronics factory (that has since become a superfund site, yikes!) where we used metal luer-lock needles, which fit perfectly on banana jacks, as test probes.
No idea where to get those now, as they all seem to be plastic or blunt, though I suppose you could sharpen? by yourself...

I use so-called "back probes" on the end of banana leads:??? ?They are steel, stronger and less liable to bend at the tips than many of the brass (?) probes which come in test lead kits.
Good bright lighting and 3X-8X or so of magnification will also help.? You can develop the knack of looking away from the magnifier without moving the probes, with practice.
