I thought that in your earlier email, you were referring to Windows sound devices. Not CAT.
Hans,
CAT dropouts are the trigger for most of the strange effects I see.
I have not yet established what affects it. I had WSJT on WSPR receive this morning. No TX but frequency hopping to use the CAT. It dropped out, WSJT would not reconnect, nor would Putty. Windows still showed the port and the audio.
Simply removing the USB and reconnecting did not work. "Unrecognised Device"
Powering off the QDX for 5 seconds then replugging USB seemed to work but I got the 80dB noise signal into WSJT-X.
Repeating but leaving the QDX off for about 1 minute restored operation.
USB power saving is turned off.
I'm wondering if spikes on the power supply are a problem, a 12 volt battery will be used for my next test..
The way Windows manages USB sound devices is another concern of mine. I really need a powered-up QDX to work when Windows boots up, not after. My main computer has several USB sound devices which get re-ordered when another is plugged in.
