Re: QCX & Ant Tuning

50 Ohms dipole, G5RV off centre fed and not resonant. More incorrect
information. Anyone want to pursue this email me direct off list.
This is waaay off QRP Labs Topic.

Resonant does not always mean 50 ohms to match coax.? A resonant antenna
has different impedance at different points along the antenna.? A half
wave antenna fed in the middle (A dipole) is AROUND 50 ohms at it's
resonant frequency.? But if you feed that antenna on an end, you have a
very different high impedance feed point.? It's still a resonant
antenna. ? If you hang coax here, the mismatch would be terrific without
a matching system.? Some of you are falsely equating a 1:1 match to mean
the same thing as resonance.? A G5RV antenna for example feeds itself?
off center at a point where the SWR on any band is at a somewhat
manageable level.? It's not a resonant antenna.? For some reason, some
of you are equating resonant antennas to be good and non resonant
antennas to be bad.? This is a false assumption.? Lots of false
information is being passed on here lately.
