Failure to align

I finished my 40 meter kit last night. When I powered it up (using 10 AA battery pack with 14.8 Volts) I was not able to align it. While calibrating I was able to maximize the out on 4.7 at 9 although it didnt change much as I turned the Resistor.? The problem is with the 3 parts that require the moving of the 3 blue potentiometers. They all show 0 (with a few bars which cant be balanced) which I suspect is due to a build failure.?

Also the volume of the sidetone during this testing (and other times) is very low and raspy. I tried reducing the sidetone volume to 50% but then it was hardly audible. I put it in practice mode and the sidetone is still almost not audible.?

Also the volume control potentiometer does not change anything. I did not see any obvious cold joints.?

A few suspects:

This was my second kit build.

I had a solder glob come through on T1 that I cant tell if it shorted the smaller secondary above the primary.?

I had some problems attaching the volume potentiometer. I'm still not sure if it is electrically connected.?

Any help would be appreciated?
