This happened to me too.? I didn't think I applied too much heat but apparently I must have. Be quick and careful or like you mentioned use a heatsink. I luckily had one in my stock.

The front panel normally open push button switches will melt and fail if you apply to much heat. Replacements are available at Amazon and eBay for cheap.
When soldering the connections I grabbed the connection with an alligator clip to heat sink it near the switch. This protects it from heat damage and all is fixed.
