Hi James,
Yes I used Zadig. The drivers aren¡¯t the issue though. I had the drivers loaded fine, they show up in the device manager as working fine but don¡¯t get assigned a Com port, so I can¡¯t use them.

Hi Joel.
Did you use Zadig.
It works on both my XP and windows 10 machines.
Give me a few minutes to boot the PC up and I'll check for you.
James.

James I did everything you just mentioned, but it wouldn¡¯t work. It kept giving me a ¡®unable to communicate with programmer¡¯ error no matter what programmer I chose from the drop down menu. ??¡â?.

Hello Alan, Joel.
If I seem to remember, the USBasp needs to be installed before you can use it.
I'm fairly certain a piece of software called Zadig will do this for you. It installs the drivers for the device to work.
It'll then show up in device manager and if you use AVRDUDESS to program the 328 with then it will be in the programmer drop down menu.
Hope this helps. James

USBASP and a USBTiny programmer
with no success, neither gave me a com port that I could assign to the programmer.
Joel,
Do not know about the USBTiny but the USBasp does NOT look like a COM port. It requires software for a USBasp.
