The QMX family supports more diverse modes, and with added stress from these it is better to operate them below 12 volts. Some ops encourage batteries that provide just over 11 volts on a full charge. Many so called 12 volt batteries provide more than 12 volts at full charge, and can potentially damage a QMX.?

Possibly your shack supply may provide too much voltage for sustaining a QMX across all its mode. Even for CW, it seems prudent to operate under 12 volts is the picture I am getting. Don't take my word for it, read what Hans has documented in the manual (I am still building I have not read that far (-:
