The load radio takes 3 minutes before the radio choices, I choose QMX+, then it hangs there, unresponsive to button pushes for another 3 minutes

This sounds like the processor is running very slowly, saw a similar problem with a U3S once. Either the ¡®fuses¡¯ are set wrong but his is part of the (i believe) pre installed boot loader firmware. OR, the xtal running the processor is not functioning (may be defaulting to free running mode). Try having a look around the processor SMD components. My just arrived QMX+ had a lot of ¡®gunge¡¯ down one side, which cleaned up (while looking for a different problem).
