Best desoldering tool is the Hakko or similar:

but it's rather expensive. I've found another one that is very inexpensive and works nearly as well as the Hakko. It is a lot slower to use , especially when you have multiple joints to unsolder. It's basically a SoldaPullIt and an iron in one, but is easy to use with one hand. Here it is beside a solder sucker.?
Both work best with lots of flux and occasionally some extra solder. The latter should be in every kit builder's toolkit.?
