I think having a couple pins and female headers spare is always a good idea if you work with this type of kits/projects. They can be ordered on aliexpres,?for only a couple bucks you get hundreds?of headers, and in a situation like this you can easily break the pins, desolder one by one, and install a new one.?
Hi, this does sounds like a better plan.
Now that I think more about it, I have a DIL IC removal tool that could be used to slide the plastic up.
