Hi Colin

Yes, I see. Yes, you can provide a battery voltage > 7V, through the Vin pin, on my QRSS Arduino shield. The QRSS shield provides access to all the usual Arduino connectors on the two 6-pin and two 8-pin headers - which includes Gnd and the Vin pin.?
