Re: Vacuum-tube final for QRP transmitters?

As? kid and teen I was a avid skipdiver to support my building habit.
I used to collect radios and TV castoffs from the curb.??

Some of the more successful projects used available parts and deep
reading of the masters I stand on the shoulders of.? ?I spent a lot of
time and effort turning scrap and salvage into things.? They aided
my understanding.

The comment on 12au7 was of the best pick, regens can be made
with anything that can supply gain.? I think the most ones used a
1625, 6v6, or 811 though 6AU6 pentode.? Others were 6C4, 6U10,
of course the UV201.? The 1U4, to 1T4, and #30 work well and
wastes less power to the fulfillment.

Other devices included tunnel diodes and germanium transistors with alpha
cutoffs in the low MHz range.

Attached is a 1950s tube portable CW TRX, still buildable.
