Gee guys,?
I have had my two Solomon ceramic soldering stations for years and am still using the same tips. ?I usually run them as hot as they will go, clean them on a wet sponge or rag, apply new solder and get the job done. ?Even my old Heathkit soldering station had good tips on it when I gave it to my radio club to sell at a swap and I had used it for 20+ years before buying the two Solomons. One has a fine tip and the other has a large tip for bigger jobs. ?Saves cooling down one to change tips while doing a build. ?Will have to check with a friend who uses only Hako to see if he burns out tips. ?

It helps if your iron temperature is set high.? Otherwise the enamel doesn't burn off as easily.

But that plays hell on your soldering tip. It will oxidize faster when you have the soldering iron set so high. Good tips cost $.
