No body forces to buy this Q900 transceiver
I have one and like it and breaking down? I still remember the FT-100 and the IC-7000 both had these transceiver and they broke down...

For everyone’s awareness,
I’ve been underwhelmed by GHterminal as a programming tool, therefore filed a ticket to have it supported by CHIRP.
If you support this idea, please let them know. ?Would love to have good software support for this radio.

Bob you need the data cable that you use to upload the binary. It will power the keyboard. It plugs into the data port on top of the radio.

It seems to me that the approval of the final design may have come from some satellite guys in their group. Thus the unusual antenna configuration. And how does the radio receive up to 2 gigs? Is it even sensitive at that range?

The witty response Bob is amateurs would do a better job (radio amateurs of course). Some people love the Q900, especially V4, but I am skeptical of the longevity of the unit. I am now using mine outdoors portable only and at half power if on FT8 into an amplifier. It still gets warm though. It should "be cool" to have two fans but it is not cool in the literal sense. I think, as you say Bob, the design is not optimum.

Heatsinking of the radio should have been on top of the case and never at the bottom. Bigger fins would always help in dissipating heat more efficiently. Size of case should not be the primary choice in design.

I am sorry to hear of your blown finals, Edouard. You did well to repair them, something that would be beyond the competence of most Q900 users.
Here I have the Q900 V4 and I do like using the FT8CN FT8 app. But before finding your message, I had been wondering if the finals were delicate in this radio. I wonder if you problem is an isolated one or common. My own FT8 operations have been only for short durations because I fear of the possible failure.?
If anyone has any other experiences to share about FT8 on the Q900, please let us know.?

This is what I was given
1. Updated the KAY1 error in the first line of the CW automatic call, and updated it to KEY1. 2. Solved the problem that V4 occasionally cannot receive signals when switching modes.

This is not to replace the internal R81 on input of the LK1801S but a pull up resistor between +5V and the PTT tip.

470kohms is way too big. 910 ohms, under 1k.

Thanks for the details. There are some 5V relay modules that take a trigger signal and can be set to trigger if low or high. Then you'd need much less current through a pull up resistor. I have ordered such a module and intend to take the 5V source from the USB host socket. We'll see how it goes...

Yes! I simulated that chip in ltspice, and the highest value of the resistor to make a relay work is 1k. I got about 100mA thru ptt with 1k.? Plenty for a relay.? Now, the problem is with lowering the value. The bus that R81 is getting the voltage from might be affected, and other block circuits might be affected if too much current is drawn. So I thin think 910 to 1000 ohms should do.?
