This group and that transceiver
Let's submit experiences and opinions of the Q900 SDR transceiver based on hands-on experiences. I have many which I hope to share and receive answers to some of the problems I have had making this rig do what the ads say it can do.
I have seen amazing videos in Chinese and in Russian and in English which show the Q900 at work. Why doesn't mine do that? Do you have a good manual for the Q900? The oneI downloaded from the manufacturer's website, Version 2.2, leaves much to be desired. Anyone have one in Chinese? George, W9ZSJ |
Just purchased a Q900 from ebay (shudder)
Ok - been watching all the youtube videos both good and not-so-great.? Found one on ebay from a reputable seller second hand.? Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.? I'm an avid Xiegu fan, owning and having a lot of fun with my G106, G90, and x6100.? We don't talk about the GSOC in the house anymore as things do tend to get thrown around a bit.?
Like George - looking for a better manual and what support places there are for this radio.? The WhatsApp channel seems to have gone away. Bob KT8DX |
Re: This group and that transceiver
Hi George,? manual version 2.2 is the latest, I have not found anything else yet... My experience sofar, is that the website is not really up to date.. I have not seen newer versions of the software although mine was delivered with a later version than on the website.. |
Re: Progress of this group, 2/14/23 Happy Valentine's Day
Thanks for putting the group together.? Question - are ALL Q900's problematic?? I see lots of grim info on YouTube but I also see some videos where people are finding them to be fine.? I just purchased on used on ebay and am hoping for the best.? Thoughts?

Web links to Q900 info
The attached PDF contains a number of links to materials on the web which contain real information about the Q900. Many pages I have seen are just quoting ad material. None of those are listed here. Unfortunately, the best videos are not in English. We cold use a good Chinese ham who actually knows English.
You should be able to click on the links to go directly to the site. The links are live. If you find similar (or better) sites, let us know and the list will grow. |
Got my "new" used Q900 in the mail today
Got my new to me Q900 today.? Initial impressions are that it is solidly built.? All the buttons work.? And I'm able to receive 20 m POTA stations.? I have SW v 3.2.1 in it and the HW is V3.0.? Is this all current as far as we all know?? ? |

开云体育Bob that would be BRILLIANT.?The manual as you say is a ‘How To’, but it is sorely missing the ‘What this means’.? I think that would be genuinely helpful to so many.? Sincerely, Brian Corcoran? KJ7NYI On Feb 15, 2023, at 10:50, Bob Dianetti <kt8dx@...> wrote:

Re: Just purchased a Q900 from ebay (shudder)
I’ve been digging into throw radio now for several hours. ?The verdict is that with the exception of 160m being around 13 watts out everything else is up to spec. ?The interface takes lots of micro button pushing but the flexibility and filtering are excellent. ?Made several cw contacts last night, and used FLRig to tune around easier. ?Cat control setup is a breeze with flrig, ham radio deluxe, and dxcimmander. ?All in all like the radio a lot. ? the separate vhf/uhf antenna situation with the dmr module installed is a pain, but since I plan on using this on satellite maybe this will be a blessing. |
Re: Just purchased a Q900 from ebay (shudder)
Great to hear, Bob. And, glad to hear that the usual ham apps work well in your experience. I would recommend that those who have use Fldigi do that soon. Or, install the CNSDR which looks like familiar SW reverse engineered. It is even set up for N1MM.
You have a more recent version of the firmware than I have been wrestling with. I hope I have better experiences when I do that. |
Re: Just purchased a Q900 from ebay (shudder)
I can't seem to get CNSDR to work reliably.? The CAT portion works, but no waterfall or spectrum scope.? Wish it did as it would open up more of the features on the desktop compared with other rig control programs that just partially implement.? Any secrets out there to getting CNSDR to work properly?

开云体育If you hit play at the bottom of the app, that starts the waterfall. See if that works.?Sincerely, Brian On Feb 16, 2023, at 20:15, Bob Dianetti <kt8dx@...> wrote:

Re: DMR menu - what is CH_TYPE DFM?
Brian C KJ7NYI
开云体育This is how quohetec explains it.?DFM is the FM signal generated by DMR baseband, NFM is the FM signal generated by analog PLL, and WFM is the FM signal generated by SDR. Basically if I were to way over simple it, it is a cleaner sounding FM transmission.? Sincerely, Brian On Feb 16, 2023, at 20:55, Bob Dianetti <kt8dx@...> wrote:
