Team Leader - Marine Biodiversity Conservation Project
Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea
Conservation International (PNG), in conjunction with the United Nations
Development Program, and the Global Environmental Facility of the World Bank,
seeks a Team Lleader for the role of the Chief
Technical Advisor (CTA), for a multisectoral and
multidimensional marine biodiversity conservation program in Milne
Bay, PNG.? The CTA, to be
based in Alotau, will be the senior on-site officer,
and will coordinate the overall implementation of the Milne Bay Community-Based
Coastal and Marine Conservation Project.
The CTA will ensure that local capacity is built, especially in Milne
Bay's Provincial Government
Administration, so that sectors of the project's implementation and management
are taken over by the Administration. In addition, the CTA will be responsible
for significant technical inputs to the project development, actual project
outputs, project reporting, reviews and appropriate site monitoring and visits
(ie. via ocean travel in a dinghy).
The key responsibilities of this position will be to:
1.? Oversee project staff and Milne Bay Administration official in the
design, planning, management, implementation, monitoring and supervision of
project components.
2.? Lead and direct all reporting requirements, updates and review for the
Project Steering Committee, Review Meetings, progress reports, and annual work
plans.
3.??????Manage and direct
technical inputs to project development, actual project outputs, reviews,
appropriate site monitoring, and participate in workshops and conferences.
4.??????Direct all work pertaining
to International and National Consultants and contractors to ensure technical
quality requirements are met.
5.??????Identify, analyze and
communicate lessons learned relevant to the design and implementation of
smaller projects by participating in knowledge-sharing networks.
Essential Requirements:
¡¤???????A
relevant degree, preferably at the Masters level
¡¤???????A
superior record of performance in managing international programs
¡¤???????15+
years in environmental conservation, with preference given to those with Melanesia
and marine conservation field experience
¡¤???????Substantial
experience and management knowledge, alternative livelihoods, subsistence
improvement, biodiversity conservation, marine systems evaluation, and multisectoral project management
¡¤???????Fluency
in English, the ability to use modern electronic communication tools and
software, and familiarity with international project management rules and
regulations; good coordination and negotiation skills
