? VACANCY ? The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat was established in 1972 by the Pacific Islands Forum to encourage economic and political cooperation between its member countries*, and between these states and other countries. ? SOCIAL POLICY ADVISER? The Secretariat is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as Social Policy Adviser in its Development and Economic Policy Division. ? The Social Policy Adviser will be accountable to the Director of the Division for coordinating work on social policy issues in the region, especially human resource development and poverty reduction.? Work will include: ¡¤?????? preparation of policy papers and advice on social policy issues and priorities; ¡¤?????? monitoring and analysing social and socioeconomic trends; ¡¤?????? provision of advice on improving effectiveness of social development policies and development programs; ¡¤?????? developing relationships with member governments, regional organisations, non-state actors, and international bodies; ¡¤?????? overseeing organisation of meetings; ¡¤?????? representation of the Secretariat at meetings; and ¡¤?????? other duties as required. ? Applicants must be citizens of Forum member countries*, should have an advanced university degree in economics or social sciences with relevance to social policy, economic development and human resource development and have an understanding of broader development and sectoral issues as they relate to economic development.? Excellent PC based computer skills would be beneficial.? Applicants should be willing to travel economy class. ? The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance provisions.? For non-Fiji citizens remuneration should be tax-free in Forum member countries*.? Appointments are normally for three years.
