WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S HEALTH PROJECT

International Development Support Services (IDSS), a subsidiary of Oxfam-Community Aid Abroad, seeks the following personnel for the AusAID funded Women’s and Children’s Health Project.

?

NUTRITION ADVISOR (15 months)

Located in Port Moresby, the Advisor will be responsible for implementing the Project's nutrition program activities and for providing technical direction and support to national and provincial nutrition officers.? Graduate qualifications in Nutrition together with previous experience of working in a developing country context are essential.? Post-graduate qualifications in Nutrition or Public Health are desirable.

WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S HEALTH ADVISOR, GOROKA (15 months)

?

Based in Goroka the Advisor will be responsible for the leadership and direction of a small support team and for the provision of technical direction, support and advice in the planning and delivery of a broad range of Family Health Services in a primary health care setting. The role will involve negotiating with Provincial Health Advisors and Senior Health Managers at district and facility level and advising and supporting in-service training sessions for health workers.? Qualifications in nursing /midwifery or paediatrics are essential together with experience in the delivery and supervision of training and health care services in remote areas or in a rural, primary health care setting.? Post-graduate qualifications in Public Health or Women’s and Children’s Health are desirable.

TRAINING ADVISOR (6 months)

?

Based in Port Moresby the Advisor will support the Training Team in conducting training of trainers and in the review and revision of training materials.? Current or recent midwifery qualifications and /or paediatric practical experience and in service training experience are essential together with previous experience of working in a developing country or remote indigenous Australia.? Post graduate qualifications in Public Health or Women's and Children's Health are desirable.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR (3-6 months)

?

Based in Port Moresby the Consultant will oversee the implementation of community development strategies in project activities.? This will include assisting in assessing, measuring and reporting on the integration of community based methodologies within all project components and program areas.? Demonstrated experience and expertise in the application of community development strategies in project planning, appraisal and monitoring and evaluation in developing countries is essential together with a relevant qualification at Masters level.
