1979 & 1980 On PCarMarket 2
Has everyone seen the two 928's on PCarMarket this week? Only 1-2 days left on each. The 1980 has Phone Dials (15" however), Auto, low miles, looks pristine condition & a pretty good price for an Auto. The 1979 5-spd has "S" wheels, high miles and basically no bids - no reserve however & it looks like it will need some work. This is an Oregon car, but have no clue where it came from. Don't know if I have ever seen it before. Love the tan interior with a black 928 - wish mine had that. Just FYI. Regards, Keith Martin 1980 5-speed LSD, Sunroof, S4 Brakes & Rear Wing, S Front Spoiler & other "stuff"

Door panels, switches, locks and such 13
Hi all, I've been lurking on our forum for quite some time as life projects have gotten in the way of 928 projects. Last week my right side window wouldn't return up to fully closed. Long story short I've replaced the switch, removed the door panel and refreshed the regulator, motor, and slider wheel/mechanism based on some great advice from MrMerlin on Rennlist. Before reinstalling the door panel I wanted to check to see if anything else should be done as "regular maintenance" since I had the panel off. So, getting to my (hopefully) simple question. Does anyone know how to secure the lock cylinder so that it's flush to the body of the 928? There's about a 1/8 inch gap as illustrated in the attached image. Mechanically, everything works great and It's been like this since I've owned the 928 but have never gotten around to fixing it. Many thanks in advance, and good to "see" everyone here again. Andrew

OB instrument cluster question time 5
Working on the pod/instrument cluster of the 79. Cleaned all the connections on the cluster with deoxit, and made sure there were no obvious breaks in the foil on the back. The foil seems to have been replaced at some point in the past as it's blue (not brown). Put it back in the 928 today and checked to see what's working etc. First try, all the gauges seemed to work and were responsive (including the previously non-functioning volt meter and oil pressure). Took it for a spin and speedo and odo still not working. Get back to check connections etc, and head back out, and on the second start up, the volt meter and oil pressure quit working. Also of note, on the first start, the ever present red "!" went away when releasing the parking brake and no warning lights in the cluster. On the second start (non-functioning oil pressure/volt gauges) I couldn't cancel or turn off the red "!". Questions for the group. Start with replacing the ignition switch? Just bite the bullet and get a new instrument cluster foil (or the new circuit board that's out there)? Any other potential culprits I should be looking at (like the sender for the speedo)? Any simple testing procedures for the gauges to see if they are DOA? and a final question: Checking the voltmeter when it was working it was showing up near 15 volts, which, when measured at the battery at the back (engine running) was about 14.5 at idle. Seems high for an OB? Haven't looked at the alternator yet, but is there an adjustable voltage regulator for the OB (I think Valeo) alternators? too high at idle? Don't really want to cook the new battery. Thanks in advance.........

Exotics at Redmond Town Center is "on" (Sat April 13) 2
Looks like stellar weather for Opening Day at ERTC. If you're not at the track with Keith, then head on over to Redmond. https://exoticsat.com/newsy/were-so-excited-to-say I won't make it this year (too many things to do around the house), but if you have the time, it's worth a visit. New stricter rules on getting in, but the 928 is usually accepted (as long as it's clean and presentable). Also, since this is opening day, you'll need to be there early (as in around 6am or so) if you want a space. Otherwise, park outside the area and walk in. I'm betting there will be some really cool cars there and with the weather being optimal and pent up need to get the cars out, I'm sure it'll be a great day. Tom

Hooked On Driving At The Ridge Motorsports Park 2
Hey all - Are your Track Cars ready? Or is your wonderful street car (928's or other) ready for the Track for 2024. Friday and Saturday this week Hooked On Driving is at The Ridge Motorsports Park April 12 & 13. LOOKS LIKE NO RAIN!!! Very light signup so far so plenty of track space. The Ridge is definitely my favorite track for driving the 928. It's great for any car but the 928 worked so well there. As some of you remember, my 928 will not be there - I will be driving my #41 Stock Car - boy it is a beast and is so much fun to drive. No passenger seat so no ride-alongs but I can do some Lead Follow Coaching if anyone is interested. Contact me if you have any questions. Go to "Hooked on driving dot com" (no spaces - just don't want to put a link on the site in case it would be blocked) and sign up This year you do NOT have to "join" HOD in order to come to an event - saves $50. If you do sign up for this or any other HOD event, in the box towards the bottom where it asks where did you hear about HOD, put Adam Birnbaum or John Davis names and they will get a $40 credit for their next visit. Once you come, other 1st timers put your name down and you get $40 credit. I will be Coaching, but so few attendees this week (so far) I should be open for some quick no-cost coaching for my 928 friends at this event. If you are new to HPDE track driving, sign up for A group and you will get a Coach (ask for me) for the whole day. Keith Martin 1980 928 5-speed with lots of good stuff on it (retired from the track now)........

XXX in Issaquah is closing 9
Just saw a post on facebook that the XXX in Issaquah is closing for good after tonight. Looks like the concours light Porsche event in April will have to held somewhere else. Kind of a bummer, always a good time there. https://www.facebook.com/issaquahdaily/posts/pfbid0b9a17D6Q2s8NyChVwirpAJ5QRUg7JT2381U6UqYFqqKFM61vJUZLNqqLG5TYTQiil

Auto upholstery 10
Hi All, My wife and I have moved up here a couple of months ago and enjoying the area although it seems like Colorado with the cold that has been around. I'm having my Upholstery redone and a majority of it is being done by Brian Wasinger in OK. He has done some real nice work for me already. He has completed my rear seats, door cards and made me the taller cassette tray. His work on Rennlist is what started me down this rabbit hole. I'm getting ready to send him my front seats next week. I would like to find a local Upholster to do my dash. The logistics to get it down to him and the extra cost due to the size of the container would add an extra $200.00 to this project. I have the dash leather that I got from Classic9 so I'm looking for someone that is competent and local to install it. Any help would be great. Look forward to meeting you all at some events around the area. I live in the Port Ludlow area. Thanks David Kekar

Off topic: 2006 Jetta 2.0 T with crashed valves 5
Just tossing this out there: My sons 2006 Jetta (2.0 liter turbo 6spd) just had his timing belt go so the car needs (at a minimum) the head redone. Has around 150 k miles, new tires, black exterior/leather interior and is in OK condition (other than the head). He (and I) don't have time to dig into it as a project so wondering if anyone here is interested (or know of someone). Car is in Olympia, WA open to offers.....pick and pull says $300 and it'd be a shame to dump it there....

Club Sport rims (7" and 9") on facebook marketplace 6
Saw a set of 16x9 and 16x7 CS rims (with track tires) for sale $1250. Seattle area. Look well used, but a good deal for someone wanting to refresh them and a fairly decent price as I've seen the 7s and 9s go for around $2k lately. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3551098511872917/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A63887f72-e331-46de-8768-52e0b7804b80

928 engine parts / engine / etc.
Hey everyone - I've reached a project redirect point on my 928. I'm replacing the engine with something other than the m28 engine. Here's what I have. A running M28 4.5 16v in the car, you can hear it run. New timing belt, porkentensioner, hoses, head gaskets, oil pan gasket, delco alternator, water pump, new o2 sensor, lots of other new parts. 85/86 exhaust manifold, and a lot more on this engine. I'd like to sell this as a complete unit - basically a drop in for someone without an engine. I have a lot of spare parts as well, it's a good chance I have a spare of something. engine fans, 16v oil pan, throttle bodies, intake plenums, fuel rails, injectors, etc. I'm not looking to get rich off this stuff, but I do want to sell it to someone that can use it. I've got way too many 928 parts in the shop, and not enough room for them. Parts are located in Tacoma. Jeff Evans

81 tuning help 4
Hey all, I'm still having some challenges with the 81. I've been at it too long and need to raise the help flag. Issues are mostly running/tuning related. Car idles high, skips and misfires under load, and generally runs but randomizes how well it does. Willing to pay for some help to get this part sorted out, kinda at the end of my rope with this build and the consistent challenges. Located in tacoma. Jeff Evans
