@jeff evans: Have you already measured out the expected clearance with the stock intake? I've been having conversations with Mike Benno and Ken about integrating these more modern intakes to a 928, so this is also of interest in your build.
Like I said on RL, I think this will be great.
Cheers,
Glenn

From an eyeball and a tape measure,? I'm about 2 inches too proud for the current intake to fit under the hood. This one is about 9 inches tall so there's definitely room to shrink it down.

Honestly?I don't think it is any more controversial?than any other non-Porsche motor swap. I think it is super interesting and cool because it's a Ferrari motor which I think is a super cool idea. I cant wait to see more

Jeff, I just subscribed to your YouTube channel, I was watching I think the latest video and you mentioned you we're looking for a spare 928 transmission, are you in need if an Auto or Manual transmission?

I was thinking about that. If the rear cradle is the same for auto or manual, then I might be able to use any cradle to build the trans mounts for the corvette. Might not even need a trans. Just need a way to locate the trans like it would be in the car and get the brackets made without disassembling the car I have for as long as?possible.?

The rear cross member is the same for autos and manuals for the 1978-1980 cars with the G28.03 transmission.? All the later ones past that are very different.?

I imagine the holes in the body are in the same place? Which means the auto x member could serve as a starting point.? I would assume (dumb of me, I know) that the auto one could have something attached to it to mimic the manual pickup points for the transmission.? Or I just build it from the auto pickup points since those are more common, and the torque tube has to be custom length anyway.

Ha. Love it (if it fits). I¡¯ve always thought those ¡®02-08 Maseratis (as in, the whole car) would make a worthy replacement for my 928 if I ever decided to sell it and continue using something equally silly as a daily driver. (I did neither.) But if you think it¡¯s hard to find a 928 with a manual gearbox¡
This has got to be just about the most ¡®philosophically correct¡¯ (for lack of a better term) 928 engine swap I¡¯ve seen. (Sorry if this is a spoiler for the latter half of the YouTube video that I haven¡¯t watched yet, but whereas the Ferrari version of the F136 has a flat-plane crank and a very different character, the original Maserati version has a cross-plane crank configuration, such that Jeff¡¯s creation may end up sounding nearly indistinguishable from a stock 928, depending on his exhaust choices!)
