Re: Shark Sighting
Adam Birnbaum
I was actually thinking of a lunch time thing, evenings are difficult for
me. Especially now with my torque tube issue. The only time I get to work on it is between 10pm and 1am. We can do a late lunch to accommodate everyone's schedule. What do you think? question: tube drop imminent
Adam Birnbaum
I'm about ready to drop my torque tube. Everything is unbolted except the
tube flanges. My question regards engine movement. I would imagine that the engine will rock backward assuming a nose up attitude when the tube is removed. What concerns should I have? In particular: 1) Are there any particular components that typically snag when the engine leans back? 2) Does the cross brace have to be removed? 3) Is it advisable to place a jack under the pan to keep the engine from moving? 4) Any last minute words of advice before the drop? -Adam Birnbaum '88 S4 A/T |

PCNW Drag
Just got back from a brief UK trip and my transmission fluid decided to take
a walk, just when I thought it was fixed. Anyway got on the phone to Leif and we had a fairly long chat, talked about your GT for a bit Lloyd. Hope you manage to work out a decent way to get it fixed. Seems he is having a 928 week, he has an 85 with the cam belt in pieces also. Mentioned the drag and he said he would try and stop by. Re: Shark Sighting
Hi Lloyd,
That's a real bummer about the motor. Is it rebuildable? You may want to check out this link, he lists a GT motor for $4500 with core. Not sure if the page is up to date, but sounds reasonable price wise. Other than that, A guy on the rennlist posted a S4 engine for sale $3500 neg. . Anyway keep us up to date on your dilemma. Im curious to know if you find anyone in the Seattle area that can work with the 928 engine. Hey Bobby...
I'm Andy, live in tacoma, am 25 and have a brown 1979 928 with 40k on it... i just got it not too long ago and the first thing i had done was my timing belt and water pump... i took it to paul weir in seattle because they gave me the best quote but they ended up being really expensive... so, i'm trying to find somewhere else that's a little cheaper... it's hard... that's sort of the commitment when you buy these cars... i would join you guys at red robin, but i have to leave for Eugene, OR that day to go watch a bunch of high-school football players run around... hope to talk to you soon! I might just stop in sometime, as i'm in lakewood now and then... your pal andy |
Devek Day
Hi All,
Preliminary word from Susan and Marc at Deveks. In conjunction with their get together at the shop, they will be hosting a group of interested drivers at Thunderhill on the 4th, which is Friday. We asked for a minimum of 20 cars. All this is still being finalized, but this is an early warning for us NW folks (I am helping organize, so we should get something out of it, right?) The cost will be somewhere around $200 with lunch and drinks, probably. Instruction will be available. The track has race-gas, air, corner workers, medical personell, etc. If you really want to get to know your car, and your fellow owners of 928's, you should get on the track with them both. You WILL learn something, and have a bunch of fun doing it. Thunderhill is a really safe track, no walls or trees or guardrails, nice and wide...I am sure the emphasis will be on saftey and fun... The atmosphere is very relaxed, great track workers, out in the country, but bring an umbrella(you all have one of those, right?) cause it's hot and not much shade. For a look at the track try their website at: . I just made the drive last weekend. 10 hours is a good figure from Portland. I took my GT on a trailer easily in that time. Thunderhill is about 2 1/2 hours from the shop( +/-). If there is interest, I can get a block of rooms at Willows, the little town about 5 miles from the track on I-5. I have stayed at a good motel with secure parking, a good resturant, pool, etc. and they are used to racers and groups. I plan on leaving Thurs. AM, fairly early, driving to Willows, having dinner and a good nights sleep, then the track for the day. Maybe on to Deveks that afternoon, or wait till the morning. Get in touch with me, for now, with questions. Deveks will be posting something to Rennlist when we get it all finalized, but in the mean time they don't need the extra work(leave them alone--they have to get my car done for Virginia City this weekend) Don Hanson |

Adam,
lunch would actually work better for me too. being as i have to drive up to Sea-Tac later. 1:30 would be perfect. we are speaking of the one in South Hill behind the mall right? i'll try to bring my cousin along, he is a former 928 owner, he's had two of them also, but he's a BMW convert now. anyway, let me know what happens with everyone else, my schedule is pretty flexible...
