I think the older I get the less tolerance I have. I remember smallpox vaccinations, I remember polio, I remember Public Health. Like...don't spit on the ground because it spreads 'germs'. Wonder how long since that ordinance has been enforced.
I saw something this morning that really upset me, so I am going to vent to you, my old classmates.? I live on a somewhat busy street, especially during rush hour when all those people are trying to get to Intel. The entrance to my community is half-way between two intersections controlled by traffic signals. There is another street that is directly across from my entrance street, and that street leads to an elementary school. At the intersection with the major street, on each of the four corners, there are sizeable barriers with the posting "crossing closed". At 7:30 this morning, in the dark and the rain, I saw two sets of parents leading their school children past the barriers and across the busy street to get to school. It is one short block either way to access the signal controlled intersections. Parents teaching their young children to flout the rules and putting people and drivers in danger. I just don't get it! They probably do this every school day but I only saw it today because dog and I were a little late getting out on our first walk. Definitely a reason to avoid that area at 7:30. I don't want to be in a position to see an accident happen.
End of rant-for-the-day.
Hello from drizzly Portland.
