Re: Registax and Win 11
InQ
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAutostakkert gave me artifacts in images it loaded for reasons unknown. I still like it, but am a little gun shy now. I am converting .MOV to .AVI. so there could have been a file difference. It wasn't every image, just some. AviStack2 works fairly well. I also have a new conversion process. Two things I now use, PIPP - Planetary Imaging PreProcessor which conveniently reads .MOV files, and Planetary System Stacker (PSS) which is in python. I use DeepSky Stacker for non planet stuff. It has been a wild couple weeks with new computer, new software and new point and shoot camera. Big learning curve. :) On 11/23/2021 6:07 PM, Stephen J

Perhaps you are already aware but?Autostakkert is a good alternative to Registax. I have not tried it on Win11 though.? Stephen J McIntyre Mailto: McIntyre_SJ@... www.Flickr.com/McIntyre_SJ

Re: lunar eclipse
I didn't plan to stay up, but as usual i woke up at about 3:30am. The umbra was about half way across the moon so quite interesting. But as bad luck seems to triumph, the moon was partially obscured by the only patch of thin clouds in the sky.?? Stephen J McIntyre Mailto: McIntyre_SJ@... www.Flickr.com/McIntyre_SJ

Re: lunar eclipse
I stayed up untill just after 4am. I saw maximum eclipse just as the sky started to cloud over. It was cool. But there will be a better lunar eclipse in May On Mon, Nov 22, 2021, 20:41 Dave Anderson <canddstt@...> wrote: Anyone else stay up all night for the eclipse and go to work on Friday , great views when the clouds cleared . |

Re: Dark(ish) sky location near Ottawa
Well, given that the city has expanded to Arnprior to Navan to Manotic, maybe you could be more specific about your 30 minute limit. Generally, I find it best to go south, away from the major highways and the buildings that line it but have little current knowledge of the best sites. For my part, I am in Nepean and used to enjoy Beckwith park, but it has gotten bright out there now. Good luck and clear skies. Randy? On Mon., Oct. 25, 2021, 12:46 p.m. , <gregz12@...> wrote:

Attilla -ok..I'll take the bait.? Yes I'm sure Mr. Olson has exceeded my imaging skills and gear. My last image was taken in 2007, Bob has had 14 years to catch up and surpass me hence I would be surprised if he was still producing the substandard images he was taking in the early 2000s.? ;^) However I'll put my M51 up against his if I could see it. cheers, Albert.
