Irma Beserra Nunez was able to get AARP's support when she was leading the effort to save CA State Funding for Adult Ed Older Adults classes.
Important to remember: While funding was more or less lost, Irma was able to secure a loophole - where classes for older adults could be state funded if these classes also benefited school age children.
In policy work, such loopholes are extremely important. They are often a beginning place for new efforts to make headway.??
