Urgent Help Needed ¨C A Purim Mitzvah to Help Us Move

Dear Friends

As Purim approaches, we are reminded of the importance of helping one another in times of need, bringing joy to others, and fulfilling the mitzvah of Matanot L¡¯Evyonim (gifts to those in need). I never imagined I would find myself in a situation where I needed to reach out for help like this, but unfortunately, I have no choice.

Our home has become unsafe due to severe mold growth, spreading along the ceiling and walls and even damaging a cherished painting by my late grandfather. It's got into our wardrobes and I fear i will have to replace all my clothing. The worst part is how it¡¯s affecting our health¡ªespecially my mother, who has asthma and is struggling to breathe. Staying here is simply not an option anymore, and we must move as soon as possible.

I am doing everything I can¡ªre-doing my websites, selling my artwork, listing items for sale, and exploring every possibility¡ªbut we need urgent financial help to secure a safe home. In the spirit of Purim, a time when we celebrate Hashem¡¯s hidden miracles and the power of community kindness, I am asking for any support you can offer.

Ways you can help:
? Tzedakah: If you can contribute any amount, it would mean the world to us. ([Insert payment details or crowdfunding link])

? Buy My Artwork: I am offering my handmade cushion covers, paintings, and jewelry at special prices to raise funds. Buy one of my items in my

? "You can also support us by purchasing a copy of our books on Amazon. Every sale helps us move closer to our goal while sharing meaningful content with others

?????

????

?? I have been revising my book, it should be available for sale again soon, Bezrat HaShem

? Share this Message: If you know someone who might be able to help, please forward this email.

Another way to help is by joining our Patreon community, where your support will not only assist us in moving to a safe home but also enable us to continue creating meaningful art and resources. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference! or

If you know of any other google groups, please let me know.

Even a small act of kindness can create a Purim miracle for us. Thank you for any support you can give, and may Hashem bless you with Simcha, Bracha, and Yeshuot.

With gratitude,

Shoshanah Shear

SEFER CHOFETZ CHAIM
?
Day 159 ¨C The Prohibition
?
As in the case of loshon hora, one must do his best to ignore someone who is about to begin or has already begun to speak rechilus.? If someone begins talking of how one person has wronged another, to willfully listen as he continues to speak is, according the the Chofetz Chaim, in violation of ¡°Do not accept a false report¡± (Shemos 23:1).? Just as it is lowly to speak gossip, so too it is not befitting a respectable human being to listen to gossip.
?

?
SEFER SHMIRAS HALOSHON

?
The Whole of Man
?
In summation: One must strive to fulfill each and every mitzvah, be it between man and God or between man and his fellow, for each is an expression of Hashem¡¯s will. Thus does the Torah state: ¡°Apply your hearts to all the words... with which you are to instruct your children, to be careful to perform all the words of this Torah. For it is not an empty thing for you, for it is your life...¡¯¡¯ (Devarim 32:46-47). Let no one think that even a single mitzvah is extraneous, a matter left to those who seek exceptional refinement of character or spiritual attainment. For it is your life. No part of the human body is extraneous; each serves an important function without which the body would be unsound. Similarly, each mitzvah provides its own unique spirituality and is vital to the soul¡¯s well-being.
?
Thus do we conclude the reading of the Book of Koheles: ¡°The sum of the matter when all is considered: Fear God and keep His commandments, for that is the whole of man¡± (Koheles?12:13). To be the adam hashaleim, man of spiritual perfection, one must fear God so that he will refrain from doing that which the Torah prohibits, and he must keep His commandments, that is, all positive commandments. That is the whole of man.

The Upright Sheaf
?
The Gerer Rabbi said: "The twelve months are the same as the number of Jacob's sons; each month is a symbol of one of the tribes. The month of Adar represents Joseph, and in asmuch as two tribes are descended from him, we have two months of Adar in leap years. Haman held the same high position as Joseph, but when he wished to annihilate the Jews in the month of Joseph, the latter's dream was fulfilled: 'my sheaf arose and also remained standing uprght' (Genesis 37:7)."

Day 158 ¨C Constructive Speech: In Conclusion
?

?
Having discussed the laws of constructive speech regarding both loshon hora and rechilus, it becomes obvious that there are no shortcuts in deciding whether or not to speak up for a constructive purpose. Silence when in doubt may be true of non-constructive situations, but when someone else¡¯s life ¨C or quality of life ¨C hangs in the balance, one may be required to become involved. One must be well versed in the proper applications of the seven conditions for constructive speech listed above (see Day 50) or at least be in contact with an authority who is well versed in these matters.
?
SEFER SHMIRAS HALOSHON
?
¡°Turn from Evil and Do Good¡±
?
In this work, we have focused on King David¡¯s words, ¡°Which man desires life, who loves days of seeing good? Guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit¡± (Tehillim 34:13-14). Let us now examine the next verse, ¡°Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it.¡¯¡¯
?
There is a basic distinction between the reward or punishment for mitzvos that are between man and God and those that are between man and his fellow. The primary reward or punishment for the former is reserved for the World to Come. Such is not the case with mitzvos between man and his fellow. As performance of these commandments betters one¡¯s fellow¡¯s lot in this world, a significant portion of one¡¯s reward is bestowed in this world, measure for measure. Conversely, by transgressing these mitzvos, one worsens his fellow¡¯s lot in this world.
?
Therefore, a significant degree of retribution is exacted in this world. In the above verse, the terms evil and good, refer to matters between man and his fellow. Thus, David informs us that one who seeks a good life in this world and the next must be especially zealous in the fulfillment of his interpersonal obligations as expressed in the Torah. Turn from evil refers to the full gamut of actions prohibited by the Torah: robbery, usury, lending with interest, causing hurt or embarrassment, etc. Do good includes the giving of tzedakah (charity), performing acts of kindness, offering financial assistance to a struggling businessman, burying the dead, visiting the sick, hosting guests, returning a lost object, paying a worker¡¯s wages on time, etc.
?
Hearing the blowing of the shofar on Rosh Hashanah is a mitzvah which everyone makes every effort to fulfill. In the same way, one should strive to fulfill every mitzvah, and to rejoice in its fulfillment. As we say each night in the Ma¡¯ariv prayer, ¡°Therefore, Hashem, our God, upon our retiring and arising, we will discuss Your decrees and we will rejoice with the words of the study of Your Torah and with Your commandments ...¡¯¡¯

The Sanctity of Purim
?
Rabbi Samuel Abba of Slovitz said: "There is a saying that when other memorable days are no longer observed, Purim will still be commemorated. (Piyut from Shabbat Zachor). This means that all our festivals are demonstrations of God's miracles, but Purim is in commemoration of a natural event. Though we may not merit it that God deliver us in a miraculous manner, nevertheless we may still hope for aid in a natural way."

MARCH MOVIE MATINEE

For those of you who wished to see this superb film in February but were unable to, I have good news. Because of temporarily irremediable technical problems, we were not able to present the movie. We have corrected the issues with our equipment. We thus will screen this film on March 18. We HIGHLY recommend it.

For those of you who sat through that long, futile effort on our part to repair the problem, we again offer our most sincere apologies for the inconvenience and waste of time. We hope you will return to view this movie. It will be well worth your effort and time.

If you do come, please bring the exact change if possible. We would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

?Best wishes for a very enjoyable Purim. PURIM SAMEACH!??
??

We are pleased to announce the next Movie Matinee at Beit Knesset Hanassi. On Tuesday, March 18 we will present the award winning, highly acclaimed film SEVEN DAYS IN MAY.

The movie is based on the blockbuster novel of the same name. The book and the movie came out during high tensions of the Cold War. In the few preceding years there were the Bay of Pigs incident, the building of the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Of most relevance to the plot of the film, there was the Missile Gap. This was the perception in the United States that the Soviet Union was quickly developing an intercontinental range ballistic missile capability earlier, in greater numbers and with far more capability than that of the United States.

Campaigning for the presidency in 1960, Senator John Kennedy attacked the Eisenhower administration stating ¡°the nation was losing the satellite-missile race with the Soviet Union¡±. It was claimed that the Soviets would soon have 2000 intercontinental ballistic missiles, enough to launch a first-strike and take out America's strategic forces. According to Kennedy, the United States was in a position of ¡°grave peril¡± that threatened ¡°our very survival as a nation.¡±

In the film, an American president negotiated a disarmament agreement with the Soviets. Powerful figures opposed this deal. Instead of waiting for the next election to vote the president out, they conspired to overthrow the government.

For seven days, the fate of the nation hung in the balance. Would there be a military coup in America? Would the United States become a ¡°banana republic¡±? The movie covers those seven shocking days in the life of the country.

This 1960s edge-of-your-seat thriller has an all-star cast including Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner and Frederic March. A brilliant script and superb acting make this film one not to be missed.

Characters in the movie are based on real-life persons.

The Movie Matinee is at 2:00. The film is two hours in length. There are English subtitles for the convenience of individuals with hearing challenges.

There will be a brief introduction of the film, a short talk and discussion after the screening. There will be an essay about the movie provided to attendees.

There will be refreshments. No reservations are required. Beit Knesset Hanassi is located at 24 Ussishkin Street. The admission is 20 shekels for members of the shul and 30 shekels for non-members.

TEL AVIV - YAFFO TOUR with SHALOM POLLACK

Shalom Friends

?Join us on?Tuesday, March 18?for an unforgettable day in Tel Aviv-Yaffo ¡ª a journey through history, heroism, and modern-day revival. This unique trip promises to be educational, inspiring, and deeply moving.?

?Uncovering the Hidden History of Israel¡¯s Freedom Fighters?

When it became clear that Britain had no intention of relinquishing its hold on Palestine, two small but determined underground groups - the Irgun and Lechi rose to the challenge and ultimately expelled the British. These brave men and women faced death from all sides: the ruthless British occupiers, hostile Arab forces, and, sadly, elements within the Jewish establishment who opposed them.?

Their courageous contributions have often been downplayed or erased from mainstream history, but we will bring their stories to life with visits to two powerful, little-known museums dedicated to their struggle.?

?Exploring Modern Yaffo ¨C A City of Contrasts?

After an insightful morning, we'll enjoy a delicious group lunch at a popular kosher vegetarian restaurant offering authentic hummus and falafel in the heart of Yagfo¡¯s vibrant scene.?

?We will then be hosted by the Garin Torani community of Yaffo, young Jewish pioneers working to revitalize Jewish life in this complex, historic city. From the rooftop of the Hesder Yeshiva, we¡¯ll take in a breathtaking panoramic view of Yaffo, gaining insight into the evolving social and cultural landscape.?

?Yaffo was once an Arab stronghold, even housing the Iraqi army in 1948 before it was captured by the Irgun. After most of its Arab residents fled, Jewish refugees expelled from Arab lands resettled here. Over time, however, the Jewish population dwindled, and the remaining community faced growing Arab aggression. With little government intervention, a new generation of young Jewish families has stepped in to restore Jewish life.?

?We¡¯ll take a guided bus tour of the neighborhood with a dedicated member of the Garin Torani community, learning about the challenges, achievements, and vision for Yaffo¡¯s Jewish future.??

A Perfect Ending by the Sea?
Before heading back, we¡¯ll have time to stroll along the beautiful Yafo beachfront, taking in the sunset and reflecting on the day¡¯s journey.?

Heavens Even Higher
?
Said Rabbi Yerachmiel: "Let no one be hesitant to serve the Lord because the way seems to high for them. At first every way is as high as the heavens above, yet after laboring to achieve your aspiration, it will become near to you. Then you will be shown new high ways beyond the skies you have attained, to which you should again? aspire. Begin in a modest way; maintain an earnest effort to attain higher and higher realms, and before you die you will have attained undreamed of heights and perfection."
