Highlights from the September 30, 2021 Board Meeting
The NAFA Board of Directors held a Zoom meeting on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Highlights from the meeting are listed below: - The board unanimously voted to make the CanAm Classes of racing World Record eligible. This eligibility will be in effect beginning with CanAm 2021 (Oct. 10, 2021). - Executive Director Neil Flood asked the board to approve his appointment of Dave Strauss as the new Regional Director for Region 13. The board unanimously approved the appointment. - Neil and the entire Board send a huge thank you to both Keira Chin and Terri Parrow Botsford for their many years of work and dedication to NAFA and Region 13. - The warm-up dog spot (formerly known as the 7th dog) has been added permanently. All rules that were in place during the trial period will apply to the warm-up position. - Nominations for the upcoming elections are closed, and thank you to those that submitted candidates for Judge of the Year, Board of Directors, Hall of Fame and MVPs. NAFA is validating all the nominations and will publish them shortly. - The Special Measuring Committee will soon release their measuring training videos for judges to view as part of their laser level measuring certification requirements. - The Marketing Committee revealed the winning design of the Junior Handler Pin contest. The winner's name will be announced at CanAm. Thank you to all the junior handlers that submitted entries. In addition, the committee is close to completing a design for the Judge¡¯s tenure recognition pin and hopes to have a mock-up for review at the next board meeting. - The CanAm Steering Committee is pleased to announce that will be live streaming CanAm 2021 live from Indianapolis, IN on October 8-10, 2021. The link for the live stream can be found here: The CanAm classes will be recorded for a 2 hour flyball special to be broadcast on ESPN2. The date and time is yet to be determined and will be sent out via NAFA¡¯s social media channels and NAFANews.

First, I just want to thank everyone for all the entries for CanAm, we are very excited to host the premier flyball event in just over a month! We are thrilled to be hosting again, and delighted to be able to partner with AKC/ESPN to broadcast our championship races! I had a few items I wanted to share, as I have had some questions. First, the question of masks and COVID protocol questions. NAFA has, and will continue to follow the guidance published by the CDC, and we will follow the most up to date guidance right up to and through the event. At this juncture, it appears very likely that we will all be wearing masks for the event. We will pad crating areas to create more space for teams as well, which can help with distancing. If you want to follow the updated guidance by county, here is handy link to the CDC site: The next item is around prizes/welcome bags. We want to be cost conscious but also balance this with a fantastic competitor experience. We've made the decision this year to forgo placement prizes on Friday and Saturday, and instead invest in higher quality welcome bag gifts. We felt it was a better use of funds, and everyone will benefit. We will continue to have placement prizes for Sunday Division winners in Regular and Multibreed. Finally, if you haven't heard, we will be running our Invitational elimination races and Division finals races across the back alley in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum! The schedule is still being worked out, but it will be similar to racing in years past. Plan to look sharp on Sunday if you think you will be in that group of teams. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions.

CanAm Gift Basket Exchange
We are excited to be back in Indianapolis in October after a year off.
To keep in tradition with CanAm, we will be having the Gift Basket Exchange again this year. I am very happy to be able to do it this year, as we all had a year off.
With a lot of people not being able to travel, I think this would allow you to get some stuff from parts of North America that you may not have had a chance to go to.
I will do my best to pair clubs up with teams of similar size.

Highlights from the August 18, 2021 Board Meeting
The NAFA Board of Directors met via Zoom on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.? Some highlights from that meeting include the following: ? 1.? Double Points As previously announced in response to racing time lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, double points will begin on Oct. 1, 2021 and the time period for earning double points was extended to end on December 31, 2022.?
2.? 7th Dog The Board voted unanimously to make the 7th dog (warm-up only) a permanent part of team line-ups.? Updated C.2 forms will be published soon to include a spot for the 7th dog.
3.? NAFA Elections
Nominations for Board of Directors, Judge of the Year, Clyde Moore Memorial Hall of Fame, and Regional MVP¡¯s are now open through September 30, 2021.
As a reminder, entries for CanAm close on August 31, 2021.? Get those teams entered now and start earning double points over 3 days of racing!

CanAm 2021 is fast approaching?October 8, 9 & 10, 2021. ?

We are looking for people to work as line judges and on the head tables.?
?
You choose if you¡¯d like to work for one, two or three days and will be compensated accordingly.? Those working for two or more days will also get a welcome bag.?
?
If you are going to be on site but not able to commit to a full day, we also need of people to relieve line judges and head tables for their breaks starting at 9:30 for 15 minutes, 11:30 for 30 minutes and 2:00 for 15 minutes.?
