Highlights From The March 31, 2025 Board of Directors Meeting
Highlights of the March 31, 2025 NAFA Board Meeting 1. Flyball Open World Cup 2026 – Norwich, UK May 30-31, 2026 - Application for clubs to represent NAFA at the 2026 FOWC closed on March 30, 2025. After review, three clubs have been approved to represent NAFA next spring at the Flyball Open World Cup a. On the Fly b. Some Ruff Competition c. Spring Loaded 2. Two judges promoted to Supervising Judge. a. Justin Ernst - Blaine, Minnesota b. Curtis Smith – Anchorage, Alaska 3. Online payments will be required starting October 1, 2025 – teams are now able to pay tournament fees via ACH transfer (US accounts), Interac e-Transfers (Canadian accounts), and various credit card options. Checks will no longer be accepted after October 1, 2025. 4. Regional Overall Club Champion (ROCC) rules updated – clarification that clubs must be in good standing to qualify for ROCC placements. 5. New language clarifying dimensions permitted for baseboard logos – language now requires a one inch white border around any logos on baseboards. 6. Upcoming Board meetings a. June 2, 2025 b. Supervising Judge Comment Period for Curtis Smith
The comment period for the Supervising Judge application for Curtis Smith of Anchorage, AK is now open. The NAFA? Judges Committee has received an application for supervisory judging status from Curtis Smith of Anchorage, AK. Comments on this applicant should be directed to the Judges Committee at judges@.... Comments received will be reviewed by the Judges Committee and the Board of Directors. Names will remain private unless permission is granted for them to be disseminated to the applicant. The Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors for consideration at the next board meeting. Effective October 1, 2009, the Board adopted new rules on considering applications for supervising judges. The rules were adopted to give the Judges Committee and Board of Directors the opportunity to make a more informed decision on supervising judge applications. The new rules call for notice of the application to be posted on the NAFA? webpage for a period, ideally of seven days, to allow for comment to the Board. Applicants are also required to meet with the Judges Committee via teleconference to discuss his or her application. Prospective judges must possess all of the best qualities one could want in a Supervising Judge . . . fairness, firmness, safety minded, a good attitude to the sport, the participants, the spectators, a sense of responsibility to the sport and as a representative of NAFA?. Prospective judges must be willing and able to mentor new and apprentice judges, answering questions, challenging apprentices, and generally overseeing the education of the new judge. The sharing of experiences and the ability to explain rulings and other nuances of the sport are an absolute must. Prospective judges must have excellent measuring skills since his or her measurement is the deciding factor for any height cards. It is understood that the meeting of all of the necessary criteria for Supervisory status does not mean an automatic approval by the Board of Directors. NAFA Board Meeting Highlights 2/17/25
Highlights of the 2/17/25 NAFA Board meeting NAFA Rules Changes effective 2/17/25 1. Section 8.4 - Regional Champions (b)Good Standing. A club that is not in good standing at any time during the racing year is not eligible to be named for regional champion placements. Updates rule to clarify that clubs who are not in good standing also do not qualify for second or third place in regional championship standings. This will apply to regional standings for the 2025 Racing Year. 2. Updated Form C.12 Notice of Excusal The existing form is updated so it can more easily be used when a person is excused for a violation of the Code of Ethics. Tournament Fee Changes effective 10/1/25 NAFA will be implementing a small increase to tournament fees for tournaments held after October 1, 2025. The change equates to $2/team/weekend. NAFA is also working on a process to allow all results to be submitted online and all tournament fees to be paid online. The new fees in USD will be: Single day tournaments - $25 largest entry day/$13 next largest entry day Multi day tournaments - $38 tournament

There will be no way to reopen the poll after this time. 2. The Board of Directors will be holding a meeting on Friday, January 10, 2024 at 10 AM CST. 2024 NAFA Election Information
ELECTION NEWS: NAFA Voting Information Ballots distributed via email - 12/1/24 Election closes - 1/8/25Who gets to vote? The NAFA Bylaws set forth the voting procedures in Article VII. There are two types of votes: Affiliate Club Delegate Votes and Service Votes. Club Votes are earned by clubs based on the club's team entries in tournaments, plus additional votes for hosting tournaments. A club may earn up to 15 votes. This year's votes will be based on the racing year 10/1/23 - 9/30/24. A club must enter at least one team in one event during that racing year to be eligible to vote. The schedule showing votes earned by entries is on page 71 of the current rulebook. Club votes are sent via email to the registered club owner for each club. Service Votes are one vote earned for each form of service to NAFA - approved or supervising judges, regional directors, and NAFA Board members. Service votes will be sent via email to the individual earning the service vote. How to vote? Votes will be sent via email to the email address on file for the registered club owner or service voter. Emails will come from BigPulse, which is the online voting system we use. You can double check that your votes have been appropriately assessed by logging into the NAFA Database Public Access. Ballots must be voted electronically before voting closes January 8, 2025 at midnight Central time. CanAm 2024 Updates!
Whether you can attend this year, or not, help out the CanAm Planners by having 1 representative from your club fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/MgFPuVAoFwPnaaED9 Friday October 11 through Sunday October 13, 2024 - CanAm will be returning to the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion for a 2nd year. The Championship races will be held in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. With no hockey this year, the Coliseum should be much warmer! We will also have the Blue Ribbon Pavilion available for overflow crating, if needed. NAFA is pleased to continue our partnership with AKC and ESPN to provide live stream coverage and film the finals of CanAm Regular and CanAm Multibreed Class finals. CanAm Entries will open July 15th and close on August 31st, 2024. Camping reservations will also open July 15th at 9am Eastern time. The special Junior Handler Class will return to Friday's racing.
