Re: CHECK IN - HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING
开云体育So, I’ve changed up my cardio and my knee is doing better. Yay! Still want to shake it up with something other than cardio.I cleansed or de-toxed for 2 days this week. Headache! But felt better afterwards.
Been doing better with my eating and drinking but still room for improvement on the eating front.
I stay away from the scale. When the waist of my skirts and pants fit more comfortably, I’ll be good.
And jumping on the bandwagon about health not being just about weight, get your annual skin check up! Especially those of us who live in sunnier places.
Have a great weekend, everyone! Bridget Swartz

Re: CHECK IN - HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING
开云体育So, I forgot to weigh in this morning because I actually slept last night and my hubby didn’t want to wake me up until he absolutely had to. ?But, I did exercise 4 times this week, even though my Apple Watch doesn’t count my outdoor walks because I don’t
go fast enough. ?I get my heart rate into the target range and that ‘s what counts.
And, thanks to Judy’s prompting, I called this morning and made an appointment with my doc for a LONG overdue physical.

OH, AND ONE MORE THING.? THESE GOALS TO MAKE US ALL HEALTHIER ARE NOT RESTRICTED TO EXERCISING AND LOSING WEIGHT.? IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD YOUR ANNUAL MAMMOGRAM OR PHYSICAL, IT SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE ON YOUR TO DO LIST.? IF YOU'VE HAD SOME SORT OF ISSUE WITH YOUR
HEALTH THAT YOU HAVE NOT PRIORITIZED (BECAUSE LET'S FACE IT- ELDER LAW ATTORNEYS TEND TO PUT EVERY BODY ELSE FIRST!), THEN PLEASE, PLEASE, MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY AND CALL TODAY TO SCHEDULE WHATEVER APPOINTMENT(S) YOU NEED.? IT'S LIKE THE AIRPLANE THEORY

CHECK IN - HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING
Hi folks,
Some of you posted your goals and challenges, some reported ideas to achieve those goals.? Any tips, recipes, motivations, etc., please share. I've only lost 3 pounds so far - the first week started off rocky and I went up before I went down.? I got new sneakers to help with the knee issue, and got back to Orange Theory Fitness (OTF), which I absolutely love.? I have signed up for 3 days per week until the Falmouth road race, which is my first benchmark date. ANY BODY CARE TO SHARE YOUR IDEAS, CHALLENGES, TIPS, ETC? -- Judy Flynn |

Re: Keto diet
I have. I did it last year and it worked great. NOt only did I lost weight, but I also hade a noticeable decrease in join pain, and also it completely eliminated those HANGRIES and blood sugar drops I would get when eating a carb-based diet. I completely gave up all grain, and all sugar, and mostly ate a lot of green veggies, lean meat, and butter/oil/avocado and nuts. It was a little boring but manageable. I lost ta total of about 20 pounds between the diet and an aggressive exercise routine.
But..... Then on my honeymoon I totally gave it up because - who goes to France and doesnt eat bread right? So I put some of the weight back on, and over the winter, well it was winter in Wisconsin so I put more on, and before I know it I had regained 17 pounds . So this spring I went on it again, and while I had the same noticeable drop in joint pain and hangries, I lost NO WEIGHT. MAybe its because my exercise has been modified due to a couple injury issues that have gotten worse. But if that's true then maybe the exercise was why I lost weight not the diet. But we will see. I still think it was a good diet. And in a sense it has become sort of a lifestyle that I eat way less carbs than I ever did before.?? ? |

Re: Goals
开云体育Several years back I lost 25 lbs with the Isagenix program, a protein shake-based program that included periodic cleansing/de-toxing.? I’m going back on that now as it’s simple.? I am not a cook, so meal prep and eating healthy is a challenge to me unless it doesn’t require much thought or work. ? A couple of additional goals I have are as follows: ?

Sorry about your watch, Crystal!? Maybe Apple will replace it because it should not have fallen off??? Worth asking - it's a definite no if you don't ask ...Sent: Thursday, July 25, 2019 11:59 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NAELAHealthandFitness] Goals ?
Quote of the day: The goals that keep frustrating me are a goal to lose 25-30 pounds. That is how much I've added since my hip surgery in 2012. So I am scrapping that goal. F--- it. It just adds to the stress. I could have written this - it is so true, Carol - my knees and hip intermittently cause disruption to my best laid plans, so the key is to have an alternate plan when my knees aren't feeling up to par.? I might have to look into my local pool - I was never a great swimmer, but it's no impact.? Part of the reason my knees hurt is the load I've been having them carry for far too long!!? So, time to change that.? :) -- Judy Flynn |

Re: Goals
My goals are:?
1) Lose three inches off my waist 2) Make a plan for exercise that doesn't cause me to be in pain given my knee and hip issues.I had a great plan but now it hurts too much. 3) Reduce my stress by 10% because when I am stressed, at the end of the day all willpower is gone, and there go a couple glasses of wine, a bunch of mixed nuts, etc etc..... The goals that keep frustrating me are a goal to lose 25-30 pounds. That is how much I've added since my hip surgery in 2012. So I am scrapping that goal. F--- it. It just adds to the stress. |

Re: Goals
I don't have an Apple watch, but how about every monday is report day - we report how we did with our goals for the prior week, and we lay out our goals for the week ahead (like we did above - exercise x times per week, etc.).? Just an idea - I'm open to anything that might inspire commitment and accountability.? I realize the same strategy won't work for every body, but I'd love to hear from all group members as to how the collective might help them to get on track, stay on track, get back on track when one falls off (let's be real) ...?
