Hopefully you can open this document. I all of the screen shots from my attempts. Your help is always appreciated. |
Re: Log Conversion
OK. I will try to get screen shots. The only thing I want to be able to keep is the column that has the state I was mobile in for the contact. Everything else seems to be OK I think. It all looks good until I hit execute. Then It drops the 'opstate'. I'll get some screen shots

Re: Log Conversion
开云体育Steve, How many contacts did you have in your log before you tried to merge? When I converted Rick's version of your loge there were over 15,000 contacts. Next time you get errors could you at least send me a screen shot instead of guessing on what you thought you saw. Also keep in mind that the log conversion utility just converts
basic log data. It does not know about things like awards. Dean On 3/6/2019 6:41 PM, n6rsh wrote:

Re: Operating Mobile
Ralph and Dean,
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I didn't see it until I was done. I did it the hard way and installed an ADIF program and separated them there. I just tried Dean's suggestion and guess what? Easy peasy! If I had read your posts I would have been done in probably less than an hour, Had 26 separate locations with the 1400 contacts I have in my log now. When I get the log from Rick imported with over 10,000 contacts, it will be a no brainer now. ?Thanks again for the help, 73 de Steve - N6RSH |
Log Conversion
Hi,
?Rick sent me a zipped file of my contacts made while you and he were my managers. I unzipped it and tried to merge it into the logger. It stopped at every contact ant produced and error message something about and awards field invalid There are over 10,000 contacts. So I tried the Log Conversion program. After I get what I think is a good setup (including the state's I was mobile in) I press the 'Execute' button and after it's done, not all of the fields are populated. What am I doing wrong? Steve |
Re: Operating Mobile
开云体育Steve, Set a filter (the flashlight icon on the tool bar) and select state equal to the state you want. Then you can use the ADIF export for a specific state. Dean On 2/12/2019 2:42 PM, Ralph MITCHELL

开云体育Steve. Check out Chuck’s videos on youtube.? Think they are under his old call, KE0BSJ.? I watched that and gained enough insight to generate a report of all contacts I had made while mobile in WV.? Should do other states also,? Hi Hi! Ralph?? KG8WL ? ? From: n6rsh

Operating Mobile
Hi,
?Is there a way to separate my logbook into the separate states I operated from for the purpose of uploading them into LoTW. Once I have received my individual TQSL certificates I would like to send them up. I have looked at the report explorer "Standard Reports" "Station Logbook - New" File but don't know where to go from there. Is that the right way to go? I need to be able to make separate ADIF files for each OpLocation. Steve - N6RSH |
Won't Run
Hi,
Well now that I'm home I wanted to start up the logger so when I get on the air with the club I can log and print cards. But I can't cet the N7XG logger to run. I copied my last backup to a directory then uninstalled and re downloaded the latest logger and followed the instructions for win 7 (although the install configured the BDE already) and when I try to run the logger I get an arror "unknown datadase Alias.cclog". When I click OK I get an error "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Etc..." When I hit OK again it ends the program there and nothing happens. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Anyone know what's wrong? Help! Steve - N6RSH |

Yes – that would be great. That way I can set up a query with items I want to modify, and then click the option I want to change, and then hotkey to the next one, so I don’t have to keep mouse clicking back and forth.
????? ??For example, I have my qsl number system in the remarks field, if I could click on the column header for remarks and have it sort ascending, and click again for descending – that would be good. ?????? Yep – I had a feeling that was the case. ?????? It’s actually something cool to show – how you can make different cards for various scenarios – such as callsigns, states, mobile vs fixed etc. but keeping it straight, and making sure you print everything before using the update function, is easy to make a mistake with if you’re not paying attention (like I did yesterday..) ? 73 Frank ? ? Re: Questions and suggestions
Frank,
Thanks for the comments. 1) How would you invision hot keys on the contact edit screen? In the 04 version soon to be released I have aded alt+p for previous record, and alt=N for next record. 2) What kind of sorting would you like? 3) I will take a look at column customization 4) The Report Manager is a commercial product so there are not many options for changing the look and feel. 5) I will go back through my samples and remove any callsign that may be there. In the next version to be released soom there is a new feature called "Instant QSL". This will allow you to send QSL cards via email rather than through the mail. |
Questions and suggestions
I'm pretty sure this product has more documentation than any other ham software I've seen so far. Very impressive. It's answered many of my questions I had at first, and the videos helped even more.?
A few things that I either haven't figured out, or might be recommendations for updates. Contacts-
QSL Report creation- Two items that would be very helpful

Re: Fatal Error "edStart is not a valid date" - SOLVED
For some time I've had a problem with the N7XG Logger giving the fatal error message, "edStart is not a valid date" when selecting a net to monitor.
After considerable investigation I've finally found the cause and the solution to this problem. It seems that when a net is selected the N7XG Logger looks at the DST start date (and probably end date) for the system time zone that's in effect. That's all well and good if the selected time zone observes DST... in which case there will be start and end dates for DST for that time zone. But if the time zone never observes DST, and thus (in some cases) has no DST start/end dates, the Logger tries to read a start date that doesn't exist and the "Monitor a Net" process aborts with the fatal error, "edStart is not a valid date." There are two solutions. 1) On the user end, select a time zone in Windows that has the appropriate UTC offset that also allows selecting (or deselecting) the option for "automatic adjustment of the clock for DST." (That's the WinXP wording.) Then if DST isn't observed simply uncheck that little box that allows Windows to automatically adjust the clock for DST. DO NOT select a time zone that doesn't have this check box because the internal parameters for such a zone may not have start/end dates for DST set... and that makes "edStart" an invalid date. 2) On the programming end, fix the programming logic that requires a DST start/end date to exist in a time zone where DST is not observed. Start/end dates are irrelevant if DST isn't observed. DST is not observed if the "automatic adjustment of the clock for DST" option is not selected. I use the GMT time zone with "automatically adjust the clock for DST" deselected. That's equivalent to UTC. 73 de Jim, KB3PU |
