A simple test to see what you actually have lost control over is to DISCONNECT your WiFi or LAN.? If you really want to backup your files, there are a bunch of free and paid programs that do this great without touching your files, but not M$ Backup in Windows or OneDrive.?

Bottom line, make 100% sure you understand that M$ is going to try to sell you more OD space after you fill up what they give you for free, or begin deleting the oldest files to make room for new ones you add, if you don't fall for the up sale.? It's a pain to decouple from OD, but YouTube has so many video's on how to do this and safely restore control of your files to you.?

Very good, Larry. That works!

Can the rig interface be suspended and reactivated while switching batteries?

Thanks for that reminder.

I had a similar situation and was logging the wrong info for some POTA hunting. Fortunately, I was able to recover the correct information via the POTA site.

On the laptop, I have setups for three rigs, two actually used for POTA. Using Ctrl+X allows me to switch to the correct one during an activtion.

Re: Learned a Vaulable Lesson!!

I use Onedrive in my day job because it is standard on our corporate PCs and find it more useful than annoying there. The problem that we see as hams is due to the way OD introduces itself and kindly asks to "back up" you files. Now most of is know that back up means copy files to another location, but OD *moves* the files to its folder tree without notice. This puts it in the category of malware to me. I am told that you can adjust the settings so that it leaves copies of the files in their original location but this does not seem to be openly apparent from what I have read. It all seems somewhat shady to me. Having said that, both my hamshack machine and the machine I am typing this on are not OD capable so I have not had to deal with it in a ham context. Moreover, since day 1 I have used a dedicated folder in the root of my boot drive to store my log files and have never lost a log. My backup-on-shutdown goes to Dropbox.

Re: Easy Way To Duplicate A Log Entry?

Hi Dave,

Yes, your suggestion of exporting the entry to an adif then re-importing it was mentioned earlier and that is what I ended up doing. At the moment, I even went so far as to create a specific directory in my ACLog directory named "Pota Edits" that will have exactly one file in it, AClogADIF.adi - the default log export file name of whatever POTA related log entry that I need to duplicate at the moment.

Maybe a slightly rhetorical question, so I don't expect any form of reply on it: If I did not have all the parks logged that I have worked, how would Scott's fine software know when to place the "New" indicator over the corner of the SIG_INFO field in the contact entry area vs when not to?
