Re: AC Log Comment Field

Hi Scott

I verified that I did both of your suggestions:

Click Settings > Carry Comments Data Forward so that it is unchecked.
Click Callbook > Place Retrieved Address in Comments Field so that it is unchecked.

This did not help my issue.

This is from WSJT-X:

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your e-mail.? Unless you are logging the same call sign, the repeated value in the comments field is coming from a connected program, not AC Log.??

If you prefer to not have the Comments field filled automatically from AC Log, you can do either or both of the following:

Click Settings > Carry Comments Data Forward so that it is unchecked. This will keep previous comments data with the same station from being brought forward to the current QSO.

Click Callbook > Place Retrieved Address in Comments Field so that it is unchecked. This will keep callbook retrieved data for the current contact from being added.

You will need to modify behaviors from connected programs in those applications.

Enjoy!

According to the on-line documentation, that can be stopped by unchecking

I've done this and it doesn't help.

Re: Wishlist auto fill #fields

Just tested my watch list and Looks like you will need to have a working? rig control inorder to have a watch list GO button to sent watch list contact callsign to the call field, which you can then hit space bar or tab to autofill callsign data from QRZ

Anyone who has read Scott’s dissertation on writing contest logging programs has a pretty fair idea of what it takes.? And why Scott doesn’t support a bunch of the smaller QRP contests as well.

THOUGHT – and this is a dangerous thing……..

Has anyone considered that you can CONFIGURE AC-Log to handle the contest exchange of your favorite unsupported contest.? Build a screen that has the entry data you need, set the TAB order to enter the exchange quickly…… and done.? If you need a CABRILLO file, there are other programs out there that can convert an ADIF to a CAB.

The SMIRK contest is a great example.? Scott’s ARRL VHF contest software comes close….. until you get a contact with a SMIRK number you need to record.? I would not think of begging Scott to support that contest – not popular enough.? If Scott’s VHF program had one extra field that was just for a “NOTE” the SMIRK number could go in the note.? But it does not.? And the contest just isn’t popular enough for Scott to waste time on.? It is only important to a small number of 6m-ops.

It is what it is.? What Scott gets done is amazing!? It is was easy, everyone could write their own programs.

Some of these may not be big enough for the software providers to create special programs for them.? You may want to check with the organizers to see if there are any programs that do support them.? Depending on their rules and exchange , they may be similar to another contest that you could use instead.? The only downside is this may require some editing of the cabrillo file after it's been created and you may not have accurate scoring and mults, depending on how close their contest is to others.? I imagine the Ontario QSO party would be similar to other QSO Parties, but some allow FT8 and some allow it on the WARC bands with a standard exchange, so you never know.

Re: Wishlist auto fill #fields

Yes I do. I have the XML account and everything gets auto filled when I click on the DX stations that were spotted by someone else. However when an alert pops on the wishlist I don’t have an option to go to the frequency/band. I only have a button for delete from wishlist

Re: Wishlist auto fill #fields

If by wish list do you mean watch list ? It is configured to alert on call tab and or DX Spot?
On your QRZ account is it an XML account or better ?? Do you have it configured to do QRZ internet lookup ?
