I am a relatively new ham trying to setup my ACL? software.
My rig control interface indicates that my polling works so I know ACL is communicating with my Icom 7300. However when I go to WSJT-X I have a problem.??
When I go to WSJT settings the test cat button does not work and I get an error message that says my hamlib timed out.
This is the message.
I'm concerned I may have inadvertently deleted hamlib so I found a folder that looks like this.
I apologize if I am asking this question in the wrong forum.? I have been using ACL and like it even thought I know I have only scratched the surface of what it can do.? Being 80 years old, it takes me a bit longer to learn things ? Any help/advice would be
greatly appreciated.

ACLog has great integration with GridTracker (which you really should be using if you're doing FT8/FT4 digital modes).? You can have those sent to the ACLog port (1100) and have ACLog listen for log entries on that port.? Then you can just manually put the CW/SSB into the other logger as you do now.

An easier way to go about mirgrating, is to upload all of your DX4WIN contacts to QRZ or LotW and then download them via ACLog.

How to uninstall One Drive (WAS: Learned a Valuable Lesson!!)
I uninstall One Drive completely. You can disable it instead, if you wish, but I just got rid of the whole thing. Here's information on how to do that if you want to get rid of it:

You can't uninstall it in Windows 8 but you can disable it. It's all explained in the Microsoft article. Depending on what you want to to, there are links in the article that take you to other articles. I figured if I uninstalled it, I couldn't accidentally turn it back on.?

I'm getting significant discrepancies when importing the ADIF file directly from DX4WIN 8.05 into AC Log,? so that's not going work until I can find the time to resolve those issues.
?
I'm trying to come up with a way to use AC Log for my Digital QSOs only, and DX4WIN for my CW and SSB contacts.?? Thus my later post on ADIF Files.

Importing ADIF file to confirm existing AC Contacts

I have an ADIF File.
I want to import that into AC Log and have AC Log check the "QSL Rec" bix? and enter "L" in the "Rec Conf By" field.
Can AC Log do this?

As far as I know, thats it, export your log from DX4WIN in an ADIF file, then import it into ACLog.

Keep regular backups in
your backup archive just in case, but I've (luckily) never been

pictures and some other folders are 100% REMOVED from your local
computer(s).?

Sorry, upload got interrupted- and my log file is also backed up to two places - another HD on my main computer as well as a thumb drive. ?It would be a catastrophic loss to me if my N3FJP log disappeared. My number 1 QSO listed is dated 11/18/1979
and as of today my most recent QSO number is 71,892 .. ?I don’t do eQSL - I tried to at the beginning but wound up getting an incredible?number of bogus requests for confirmations of QSO’s I never had - mostly listed as SSB. I am a CW op. ?

You are correct, OD "can" be used for sharing, and I know many that have done this after they understand what "backup" really does.? But M$ doesn't give you this option up front.? They just ask you to start "backup" and that is the black hole so many have fallen into.? It's ultimately a sales gimmick to make $$$.?

One of the first things I do is disable One Drive on any PC I work with.? I have my own secure and fully encrypted backup solution that the provider does not have access to.? N3FJP is not the only program to get "borked" by one drive (technical term), other well known loggers have the same issue and advise against using it.
?
All of my contacts get automatically backed up to QRZ and LotW, so both of those act as offsite storage and can be used to restore my database if needed.

george... if you open file explorer...locate your onedrive folder... right click it...opens a menu....select "always keep copy on this device"... will keep files on YOUR pc and the cloud... if u lose internet...and update a file.... onedrive will compare files and use the latest for both when internet is available. ALL?of my files are on 3 pc's and the cloud... hope this helps.. 73 jim wa4yiz

Buy a nice terabyte external drive--or two!--and save your files on it or them.? Easy to control and you can store what you want, how you want it.? I don't trust someone else to save and protect my important information.

Thanks guys - I am learning something new all the time.? For me, I deleted the OneDrive app before I did anything to my Win 11 machine.? I do not like what MS tries to do either.
