I use Onedrive in my day job because it is standard on our corporate PCs and find it more useful than annoying there. The problem that we see as hams is due to the way OD introduces itself and kindly asks to "back up" you files. Now most of is know that back up means copy files to another location, but OD *moves* the files to its folder tree without notice. This puts it in the category of malware to me. I am told that you can adjust the settings so that it leaves copies of the files in their original location but this does not seem to be openly apparent from what I have read. It all seems somewhat shady to me. Having said that, both my hamshack machine and the machine I am typing this on are not OD capable so I have not had to deal with it in a ham context. Moreover, since day 1 I have used a dedicated folder in the root of my boot drive to store my log files and have never lost a log. My backup-on-shutdown goes to Dropbox. Interesting. I find One-Drive to be useful.... provided it is used
intelligently. Running 3 computers in conjunction with the ham-shack,
one-drive handles a lot of the file sharing and log back-ups pretty
painlessly. Perhaps that is the key.

To update the country files from the logging program menu, select:

If you have stored your rig settings
(Cntrl-R, lower left) then a Cntrl-X should bring it back.?? If
CW, do the same on the CW screen - Cntrl-W.

A good precaution is to keep your log file in a dedicated folder in the root of your local hard drive. ACLog makes backups automatically and you also should put your backup-on-shutdown somewhere that Windoze will not implement its better ideas.

I have seen this behavior when RFI is getting into your computer or com port on the radio.? Try reducing power out and doing whatever activity causes this behavior.? ?If it stops then you are having RFI.
?
Make certain you have good USB cable; not the cheapest you could find. Put ferrites on all the cables between computer and radio. I recommend the Palomar kits designed for your specific radio.

Yesterday, my N3FJP Database started giving me some error messages. And that happened after I starting using Onedrive.
What I have learned is backup your Database routinely. I was able to recreate most of my Log, and some of it is now gone.
I don't believe there is a way you can download a file from EQSL or LOTW. If there is a way, that would be great.
But most importantly backup your database weekly if possible. You never know when the ultimate issue may occur.

Hi Dave,
Yes, your suggestion of exporting the entry to an adif then re-importing it was mentioned earlier and that is what I ended up doing. At the moment, I even went so far as to create a specific directory in my ACLog directory named "Pota Edits" that will have exactly one file in it, AClogADIF.adi - the default log export file name of whatever POTA related log entry that I need to duplicate at the moment.
Maybe a slightly rhetorical question, so I don't expect any form of reply on it: If I did not have all the parks logged that I have worked, how would Scott's fine software know when to place the "New" indicator over the corner of the SIG_INFO field in the contact entry area vs when not to?

Hi Scott,
The only issue I found in trying that, was that Recall only Recalled the last QSO logged, witch this 2-fer wasn't, it was more in the middle of the pack. I didn't learn that it was a 2-fer until about four hours later as I was getting ready to shutdown for the day and head to a meeting.
As a test I did single-click the log entry to highlight it and clicked Recall, however, info from the last QSO of the day was populated into the QSO entry window and not the highlighted QSO.

I've never used RECALL. POTA seems like a situation where it would be useful. If working a multi-op station, use RECALL and change the callsign. If working a 2-fer, RECALL and change the park.

In the case of 2-fer , the other way to avoid LoTW rejecting the dupe is to mark one of the QSOs "QSL Sent = Y" (ie check the box), and "Conf Sent By = L". This way ACLOG won't include it in LoTW uploads.
?
Is this why RECALL exists? If not, when else might it be useful?

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your e-mail.? Use the default File Share for AC Log.? To network multiple PCs, simply put your log file in a location that is accessible to all the PCs you wish to network by clicking File > Save As.? Then, from the other PCs, click File > Open, navigate to the file and select it.? Any contacts you enter should appear on all PCs in a minute or less (depending on the refresh rate you set). That's all there is to it!

I want to put my full ACL log on another computer in the shack. And, be able to update the log from either computer. For example. If I am running WSJT on one computer on 20 meters and WSJT on another computer on 17 meters, when I log a QSO on either computer I want the log to update. I understand I have to keep one of the computers as the "MAIN" home for the log. I just want update my contact log each time I make a QSO and not have to pencil/note the contact and transfer it over.?
I'm confused on "file sharing" in networking. I can't seem to get things to work properly. I can automatically log directly to ACL on my primary computer but when I make a QSO from the other station set-up, it goes nowhere.
Help.
