Re: Ham Call access from Hard Drive
Hi Bill,
Thanks for your e-mail. To use the Hamcall data on your hard drive, just set the directory to C (don't enter a colon or \, just the letter). That should do the trick. Thanks for your kind words on the DX spotting feature! 73, Scott N3FJP Serving the Amateur Radio Community with contesting and general logging software since 1997. Ham Call access from Hard Drive
Bill McCourt
Hi Scott,
Not wishing to leave my HamCall CD in the drive, I installed the software onto my hard drive, but ACLog doesn't seem to want to extract the log info from that location (C drive/HamCall folder). What file is ACLog looking for on the CD so I can possibly add the correct name to the pathway that I type in? Just set up the DX Spotting feature after getting a broadband connection run to my shack computer. Neato! 73 de WF1L-Bill |

The CW speed is dependent on the processor speed.? The faster your processor, the higher the number.? My old 75Mhz machine sounds good at the 7-10 range! 73, Scott, N3FJP snkdavis@... Subject: [N3FJP_Software_Users] CW interface capabilities I am very interested in using the CW interface, but before either building the circuit or buying the cable, I wanted to make sure the software did what I hope. Perhaps I missed the full description, but in the help screens for CW setup, I only see mention of using F-x keys to send preset strings. I figure there has to be some way to send arbitrary text once in the middle of a QSO, but I'm not 100% sure and would want to be able to do that. Does this feature exist, and how does one use it? Thanks, Jim (kb9dna) hey jim...you hit the f12 key and you can send code through the keyboard....it worked for me.....i didnt like it so much.... but it was all right....went to radio shack and got all the supplies for about 18.00..... it took me about 2 hours to make and test the rig.....i made the mistake of tring to make the interface on the 25 pin lpt1 port first ....insted i went to the 9 pin com 2 port and all went ok......i also ran into the problem of having a continual key and the cw was back wards....i turned the input pins around and it solved the problem...works great and now im ready for FD...good luck doug baker kg0tw |

Thanks for your e-mail. Yes, by pressing the F12 key you enter "keyboard" mode.? Each character that you type is sent.? When you want to exit and return to logging, just press F12 again.? ACLog Screen Snapshots
Hi All,
Eddie, KG4EFR, sent me a very cool ACLog screen shot configuration (see the forwarded message below).? I thought it would be fun to add a web page showing different configurations that users have come up with.? If you have a layout or color scheme that you really like, please take a screen shot and send it along.? Thanks! 73, Scott N3FJP |

CW Interface Working
k4drq
It was the PC.
I loaded the program on an old PII 233mhz, W95 system, and it came up working immediately. For those of you who encounter a problem like mine, and who might benefit from some voltage/current data, here is what I measured for my future reference: My TS-850 measures +7.4vdc with the key open. when keyed, the circuit draws 1.5ma from the ts-850. My cw interface requires 4.5vdc to drive the 2n2222 into enough condution to key the ts-850; at that point, the interface circuit draws 0.8ma from the keying source. I performed these tests using a variable DC supply for keying the cw interface. I put a scope on the interface input from the PC, and observed -10vdc unkeyed and +10vdc when keyed by the program on the old PC. Huel k4drq |

Suggestion for ACLog
Hello!
I have a suggestion for ACLog 2.3... After spending some time this morning setting up my fields and tabs, it occured to be how much easier it would be if the program (while in design mode) had a "snap to grid" function. Such a function would make custom placement of the fields on the screen a little cleaner. Keep up the good work with your programs, especially ACLog. I always enjoy using it! 73 de Joe, N2NOU |

I eventually hope to support as many contests as I can.? Right now, the number one request is clearly the PA QSO party and I've been working on that one the last few weeks.? These programs take quite a bit of time, but I'm cranking them out as quickly as I can. Thanks for the request.? I keep a file of requests and use them to help decide what is next on a very long list! 73, Scott, N3FJP snkdavis@... Getting my CW interface to work
k4drq
I just built the 2N2222 interface circuit and haven't been able to
get it to key my rig. Does anyone know what the signal level should be at the db9 output/cw interface input? I can put a positive voltage of 12v on the input and it keys the circuit and the radio fine, so the circuit appears to work fine at that voltage level. and, the software seems to be working fine as I get pulses on the scope when I view the db9 output. I'll appreciate any suggestions. Huel k4drq |

Re: Grid display
Thanks for the suggestions. The outline maps are cool, and I'd like to use them as much as I can. So far they have been added to Field Day, November Sweepstakes and each of the State QSO Party programs. They will definitely be in future versions of ACLog.
The problem with the maps is that they have to be physically drawn (which has been keeping Kim, KA3SEQ off the streets lately). Since different geographical areas will be of interest for each VHF user, I'm not sure how I would approach outline maps for the VHF contest. It is a great idea and I wish I could, but barring a brain storm I'll probably focus on the grid display. Please let me know what else comes to mind. 73, Scott N3FJP Serving the Amateur Radio Community with contesting and general logging software since 1997. Thank you for the quick response!! I vote for both.. I like the idea of being able to see the whole map (or at least more of it) full screen once in a while, (maybe while the band is dead), while having the scroll feature would be great while "on the hunt".
