CallBook Lookup

Fernando Quinones

Hello to everyone.

I have imported all my qso's into AClog. Nice!!
It would be nice to click on an entry and have the option to do a Callbook lookup.

Rotor Control

Does ACLog have a rotor control feature built in?? I just installed the EZ rotor control with the RS232 option in my Tailtwister control box and would like to control the rotor from my logging program.? Tnx and 73,? Lawrence

Re: CallBook Lookup

Hi Fernando,

Yes, I definitely plan to add a feature in the next ACLog revision to fill in missing data, however, ACLog will print address labels for QSL cards now if that is what you would like to do.? Just select the record(s) you want to print addresses for and then click print address.? The address for each call will be looked up and printed.

Hi Lawrence,

Thanks for your e-mail.? No ACLog does not provide rotor control at this time.? I'll certainly keep that in mind for the future.

Ten Tec Orion Rig Interface

Hi All,

Just a quick note to let you know that I have just added code for rig interface with the Ten Tec Orion. It isn’t up on the website yet, but if you are planning to use an Orion for Field Day and wanted to take advantage of the rig interface features I’ll be glad to e-mail you the exe file. Just send me an e-mail and let me know if you need the stand-alone or network version of the exe file.

Re: Ham Call access from Hard Drive

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your e-mail.

To use the Hamcall data on your hard drive, just set the directory to C (don't enter a colon or \, just the letter). That should do the trick.

Thanks for your kind words on the DX spotting feature!

What file is ACLog looking for on the CD so I can possibly add the
correct name to the pathway that I type in?

Just set up the DX Spotting feature after getting a broadband
connection run to my shack computer. Neato!

cw speed indicator for the fd logging program

k4drq

Has anyone done any measurements on the speed vs the number listed
in the speed setting window?

It would be nice to know what number to set it to for
5,10,15,20,25,30,35 WPM. My ear for guessing speed just isn't that
good.

Re: cw speed indicator for the fd logging program

Hi Huel,

The CW speed is dependent on the processor speed.? The faster your processor, the higher the number.? My old 75Mhz machine sounds good at the 7-10 range!

I am very interested in using the CW interface, but before either
building the circuit or buying the cable, I wanted to make sure the
software did what I hope. Perhaps I missed the full description, but
in the help screens for CW setup, I only see mention of using F-x keys
to send preset strings. I figure there has to be some way to send
arbitrary text once in the middle of a QSO, but I'm not 100% sure and
would want to be able to do that. Does this feature exist, and how
does one use it?

Thanks,
Jim (kb9dna)

hey jim...you hit the f12 key and you can send code through the
keyboard....it worked for me.....i didnt like it so much.... but it was all
right....went to radio shack and got all the supplies for about 18.00.....
it took me about 2 hours to make and test the rig.....i made the mistake of
tring to make the interface on the 25 pin lpt1 port first ....insted i went
to the 9 pin com 2 port and all went ok......i also ran into the problem of
having a continual key and the cw was back wards....i turned the input pins
around and it solved the problem...works great and now im ready for
FD...good luck

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your e-mail.

Yes, by pressing the F12 key you enter "keyboard" mode.? Each character that you type is sent.? When you want to exit and return to logging, just press F12 again.? Please let me know if you have any other questions.

ACLog Screen Snapshots

Hi All,

Eddie, KG4EFR, sent me a very cool ACLog screen shot configuration (see the forwarded message below).? I thought it would be fun to add a web page showing different configurations that users have come up with.? If you have a layout or color scheme that you really like, please take a screen shot and send it along.?

Thanks!

my future reference:

My TS-850 measures +7.4vdc with the key open.
when keyed, the circuit draws 1.5ma from the ts-850.

My cw interface requires 4.5vdc to drive the
2n2222 into enough condution to key the ts-850;
at that point, the interface circuit draws
0.8ma from the keying source. I performed these
tests using a variable DC supply for keying
the cw interface.

I put a scope on the interface input from the PC, and observed
-10vdc unkeyed and +10vdc when keyed by the program on the
old PC.

I eventually hope to support as many contests as I can.? Right now, the number one request is clearly the PA QSO party and I've been working on that one the last few weeks.? These programs take quite a bit of time, but I'm cranking them out as quickly as I can.

Thanks for the request.? I keep a file of requests and use them to help decide what is next on a very long list!

Re: VHF Log and grid squares

I second the motion. The way the bands were open last contest, I frequently
was working areas not displayed on the screen. It would also be neat to see
the whole picture.

Thanks for your hard work, and for being open to suggestions.

Scott,
Thank you for the quick response!! I vote for both.. I like the idea of
being able to see the whole map (or at least more of it) full screen once
in
a while, (maybe while the band is dead), while having the scroll feature
would be great while "on the hunt".
Thanks again for producing great software!

Hi Tim,

Yes, I'm glad you asked. I've had a couple of requests for a larger
grid
map and there are a couple of ways to go.

As you know, I've already allocated as much room to the main form for
the
map as I can. To enhance the display I can:

- Add 4 arrow keys (North, South, East and West) so that you can
"scroll"
through additional area.

Advantage - You don't have to leave the main form (fewer
keystrokes/clicks)

Disadvantage - The only way to see additional area is by scrolling.

- Add another full screen form to display the larger map area.

Advantage - You will be able to see a larger area at one time.

Disadvantage - The map won't constantly be displayed. You will have to
open and close it each time you wish to view it.

- Provide both options.

I'd love to hear comments from the group on your preferences. All
suggestions are welcome!

Hello Scott!
I used VHF log over this past weekend in the June contest... it made my

Have you ever thought about expanding on the grid square view in the
lower right corner? I found that a lot of grids that I had worked didn't
show as they were outside the group of grids that show in the existing
view.
This is just a question... I love the software otherwise!

Suggestion for ACLog

Hello!

I have a suggestion for ACLog 2.3...

After spending some time this morning setting up my fields and tabs,
it occured to be how much easier it would be if the program (while
in design mode) had a "snap to grid" function. Such a function
would make custom placement of the fields on the screen a little
cleaner.

Keep up the good work with your programs, especially ACLog. I
always enjoy using it!
