This sounds like treachery given that a backup has always been understood to be COPY of files in another location. That places Onedrive in the malware category for me. I have always kept my log files

I am not saying it was simple, but I copied all files from onedrive to a
dummy folder on my HDD, not documents folder. then told windows to stop
sync, and then uninstalled onedrive
once I was sure

This sounds like you were using ONEDRIVE and it's no longer connected or using a different logon, that could be the problem.? ACL uses the default Documents folder, which in today's controlling
