Re: AnyTone D878 CPS 2.02N Not Reading DCF Files - - Issue Follow-Up
Tom,
Seeing how Anytone seems to have forgotten who you are, I have a theory. RT Systems has now decided to come out with programming software to support DMR radios. They have tested the waters with software for the TYT MD-380. My guess is a version of their software for the very popular Anytone 878 is not far behind. With that said, Anytone may see another way to monetize a radio sale. Offer RT Systems some preferred "hooks" into their software. They now don't have to spend development dollars updating their CPS. Let someone else do the heavy lifting. Plus, this keeps the HAM dealers happy, as many of them sell RT systems software and their proprietary cables.? Programs like yours become a nuisance since you are so gracious in sharing your work with the DMR community. I saw this exact situation unfold with some early programming stuff for Yaesu radios back in the day.? Am I off base? 73 de Andrew/K4AWC |

I tried to open up the new dcf file sith CPS. I am getting an error. I do not see any logfiles to open up what the problem is? Anyone else seeing this??

Update:
AnyTone is working on this and a solution is imminent for the following CPS/radio releases: D578UV_1.14, D878UV_1.24N, and D878UVII_2.02N. You'll soon be able to download the updated CPS software which will correct the problem. Tom |
AnyTone D878 CPS 2.02N Not Reading DCF Files - - Issue Follow-Up
All,
I have received many reports of AnyTone D878 CPS 2.02N not reading DCF files written by Contact Manager. The problem (as several folks noted) is that CPS 2.02N is expecting some kind of additional data that are not contained in the DCF files written by Contact Manager. The DCF format was defined by AnyTone as simply the information written by D868 CPS 1.21. This is a very precisely defined format; Contact Manager follows it exactly as specified. AnyTone historically has been very responsive to our requests and I anticipate that they will provide the information to help resolve the problem. I hope we will learn that the DCF format has been extended appropriately to preserve special radio settings not covered in the existing DCF definition during CM transactions. I'll keep everyone posted and will post the updated tool once it becomes available. Best, Tom N0GSG |
Contact Manager 2.70 Released - Connect Systems CS 750 Type II / CS 800D Type IV
All,
We've released version 2.70, which enables support for 260,000 contacts in the latest Connect Systems firmware for the CS 750 and CS 800D. There are a couple of issues you should be aware of when working with these radios and the CPS: 1. The codeplug format for the CS800D Type IV (260k contacts, big zones) is no different than for the CS800D Type III (130k contacts, big zones). Therefore, if you have an older CS800D like I do, you must NOT import more than 130,000 contacts into your codeplug -- we can NOT guarantee that the prior CPS will not die upon loading such a codeplug, OR if you update to the latest CPS but insist on jamming 260,000 contacts into the older radio, we can NOT guarantee that you won't brick the unit. There is no way that Contact Manager can know you're doing wrong because the codeplug formats are identical. You have been warned! 2. The Type II CS750/751 (260k contacts) does NOT support big zones like the CS800D, so if you attempt to migrate CS800D Type III or IV codeplugs into the CS750, any big zones will be truncated to the maximum of 16 channels. (By the way, I tried during development to force big zones into a CS750 Type II codeplug to see what the CPS would do...it wasn't a good outcome, the broken glass in the street did not come from our lab.) By the way, for some odd reason, the CS750/1 CPS is much, much slower than the equivalent CS800D CPS when opening the contact list. As always, thanks for your support of the Contact Manager project! Best regards, Tom N0GSG |

Greg, Thanks for providing this information; helpful to have it in one place. Version 2.70, soon to be released, will support this capability.Tom On Mon, May 10, 2021 at 12:01 PM Greg Liverman <greg.liverman@...> wrote: Both the CS800D and CS750 firmware was updated to accommodate 260,000 contacts (and some miscellaneous other features/bug fixes. -- Tom Wheeler Amateur Radio Station N?GSG Overland Park, KS |

Im glad to know it¡¯s probably not me, and can only hope Anytone release an updated CPS to resolve the conflict with CM. One would think the Anytone engineers would try not break it, especially considering what Greg mentioned with the 868 and 1.40 CPS update. Yes, Greg you are correct. I've got a punch list of these to follow up on. Work has been getting in the way of my social life - but being a ham didn't have much of a social life to begin with.

Best,

The same thing happened when Anytone came out with the 2.39 firmware and 1.39 CPS for the 868. It appears that they break the DCF file export or import process. After some conversations on the side, Anytone upgraded the CPS to 1.40 and all is better for 868 radios. I believe there are posts in this group about that situation.

Anytone 878UVII CPS 2.0 - File error when loading
Hello,
I recently purchased a Anytone-D878UVII PLUS.? I'm using CPS 2.0 for this model.? After exporting a base .dcf file from the CPS to Contact manager, then making my changes in contact manager and saving them.? When I try to open the file with the CPS I receive a "file error" and it will not load no matter what I do. I know this radio is fairly new so I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. BTW- Thank you so much for developing this program, it works great with my other DMR radios.!! |

Both the CS800D and CS750 firmware was updated to accommodate 260,000 contacts (and some miscellaneous other features/bug fixes.
CS800D: Change to 260,000 contacts happened 4/28/21 with MS30.25. The latest version of the firmware is MS30.26 and CPS R4.03.20. See? CS750: Updated to handle 260,000 on 4/29/21. Latest versions are FW S4.00.008 and CPS R4.01.010. See? Thanks for all you do, Tom! Greg K0MGL |
