As we're getting settled into the new house we finally ordered a new mill. As a refresher, we closed our business after 39 years and sold our house in 2021 and were hanging out with friends until we were allowed to travel. We arrived at our new home in August of 2022 and it's been hectic to say the least. Anyway, the new home has a nice shop attached that's HEATED and also has a skylight and windows for summer air. Also has 380V 3 phase power. We've started teaching kids through adults about CAD and 3D printing. Next will be laser engraving/cutting, CNC milling, general machine shop, etc. We also incorporated here as an OOO (LLC), no easy task for former Americans during the time of sanctions. So, we'll be back to selling stuff in 2022 as soon as all the paperwork settles down. So, the new mill? We were going to get a Zx50C but decided instead on this one with all the options. The new mill was custom assembled and is ready to ship, they even sent pictures of it. https://numobams.com/products/numobams-zay7045fgs-15kw2hp-industrial-milling-machine Also ordered a new lathe, although that has nothing to do with this group. The lathe is in shipping, it got misrouted just before getting here, but it should be here "soon". https://numobams.com/products/numobams-wm210l-850w-brushless-motor-mt5-spindle-800mm-working-length-with-125mm-chuck-mini-metal-lathe-machine-396 Time to start welding up stands for the horizontal bandsaw and lathe, I also have to modify a pulley for the 3 phase motor that was given to me for the saw. I hope all have a good year, we'll try to not cause too much trouble. Jerry & Sharon -- www.DurandInterstellar.com www.DurandInterstellar.ru WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, VK Goryachiy Klyuch, Russia

New member with a Simplon 4US-Rapid 38
Thank you for allowing me to post on here, I have been getting my workshop gathered together for a couple of years, now being retired and having spent 50 years working away from home in the tunneling industry. I acquired this mill a couple of years ago from a guy going CNC, I have not been able to locate any 'words and music' as was it LBSC used to say? I am also on the lookout for an overarm arbour support bracket? Anybody out there with any ideas? I have tried contacting the Italian manufacturers (Made 1971) as a google search brings up very little, an odd 3US, presumably just a smaller version but they made a lot of plain millers that probably used the same overarm. Regards Mike

Bridgeport spares in the Uk 6
I have just acquired a 1979 Adcock & Shipley version series 1 with variable speed head, mostly works apart from the brake, parts here in the UK appear to be 2 x the US prices, brake set here is ?85 + Vat + carriage, the US price is about half, has anyone any eperience of the cost of importing or even the chinese quality? rgds Mike

What do you use your mill for ?
This question was put on a lathe group and generated an interesting discussion (about their lathe use). Interesting responses include: Your geo location mill make/model (H, V or both?) commen re special features and obviously what you use it for How often - occasionally, daily or somewhere in between ? Anything else of interesting note. I've also put a request on the Colchester lathes group for people with mills to join this group ! Mike.

DROs - before DROs were invented ! - "Micrometric Reader" #french
Hi all, Anyone come across a thing called a micrometric reader - quite possibly a French thing - and could give me info on them - since my mill has a connection for one, I'm intrigued ! Thanks. Mike.

newbie..... 3
Hi there, just to say hello......it'll take me a while to find my way around as not so good with this sorta thing...... I have Bridgeport J head and one of the last Myford milling machines made in Tiawan.....can.t tell you the model as it's still packed in it's crate from my move last year...... both machines run on 3 phase......the Bridg was used in a plastics factory...so other than a few marks on the table it's all orig very little wear (inc it's mechanical gearbox) only one prob is the power down on the quill... but after 12 years of ownership have got over that prob.....would like to fix it but haveing checked out the prices for parts just left it alone...... when bouight the main contactors were in a bad way.....cobbled it up to use it but once outta the crate it'll get a complete rewire and new switch gear....plus low volt lighting..... will have a new high level switch box with a panic button but keep the contactors in the original box...... As for the Myford it was bought as almost unused from new......still had and has got wax on a lot of the slide ways...... I was very lucky to get it, paid a lot as well but pleased with the purchase, esp as I can use the tooling from the B.P..... The Myford when it see's daylight will get oil as a coolant...don't want water anywhere near it..... as it happens almost out of the diluteable coolant oil anyway so everything will get oil...... apart from the above I also run a 3 phase 6" Square head Colch Student and a 240v late Myford Super 7 lathe with a screw cutting g/box...... Plan is to build a new 200m2 workshop.....then run a school for holiday clients here in Crete....... well all for now......Frank

eBay listings
I just listed a few items on eBay that might be of interest to this group. I have some more coming but...tomorrow. The simplest would be to check in on my eBay user page from time to time as I'll be listing more things. https://www.ebay.com/usr/durand_interstellar It's hard selling off your tools! But we can't get all this through customs so I'll have to buy new as they're needed in the new house. -- Jerry Durand, WhatsApp, Telegram, VK, signal www.DurandInterstellar.com & www.Durandinterstellar.ru

Grizzly 7x going up for sale
We just got updated customs info and found for our move we can't take any of our machine tools, so the Grizzly mini lathe with full tool set, horizontal band saw, and a couple of table top milling machines will be for sale as I can get them together. Also tools for my former big milling machine which has been sold. Interested parties should contact me directly so I can work out who might want what. Items are located in Los Gatos, California. Shipping would be difficult and expensive. I also suddenly don't have a lot of spare time as I have a lot of things to get rid of SOON. -- Jerry Durand, WhatsApp, Telegram, VK www.DurandInterstellar.com & www.Durandinterstellar.ru

CAM software 4
After our move I will probably need to move from 2-1/2 D CAM to full 3D CAM. Any recommendations on reasonably priced software? -- Jerry Durand, Durand Interstellar, Inc. +1 408-356-3886 www.DurandInterstellar.com & www.Durandinterstellar.ru
