Re: PUI AUM 4537L-HD-R

I think that is wrong....Mic Scharf? ...27k goes from pin 2 to ground pin 1....pin 3 goes to plus on capsule...pin 2 goes to minus on capsule...Thats how all mine our wired and work good....

Re: capsule array self-noise

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hey Joe, the theory goes like this: the signal to each microphone is correlated. ?For two capsules the signal adds by 6dB. ?But the noise is not correlated so it adds by 3dB. You have to keep doubling the number of capsules for the math to continue to work. ? Adding more capsules adds some complexity but the theory shows an improved signal to noise ratio.?

Re: PUI AUM 4537L-HD-R

How I see it: Resistor is from pin 1 to pin 3, pin3 to negative on capsule and plus on capsule to pin 2

Re: PUI AUM 4537L-HD-R

I put some in a xlr conn stuck out and wrapped the end with thick screen...They are uni so need back exposed...The schematic is floating around on you tube and has one 27k resistor from pin 2 on xlr to ground.... pin 2 gets hooked up to negative on capsule and pin 3 gets hooked up to plus on capsule..I will post a link when i find it....Also? ? ?Put some in gutted mics i had....1 resistor and a xlr conn is all you need...

How have you mounted them?

Bought 8 of these ...Wired up and put on my drum overheads and was impressed ...Noticed a clarity I didnt get with Octava O12s or My AKG 451s with CK-1 capsules...Or My MXL 603s mics...S/N is at 69db so not as good as a lot of mics but they beat out all my other mics...Even on kick they sound fantastic...Also A very good vocal mic with windscreen...Recorded the drums and the sound was still there.....Used the schematic with one resistor from pin 2 to ground..? ?

Oooh interested in this, have two very good friends who are drummers and general musos..
I'm more about nature sounds and general sound design.
When you mention the schematic, I assume you are referring to the datasheet?

Re: Cheap, Makeshift Parabolic Dishes?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Yes dis network.. I am fairly certain they are parabolic or at least close. I made one into a sun reflector once and it easily focused the sunlight into and area about the size of a ping pong ball. I am confident that is close enough for you to use for a parabolic Mic. if you can find one with its receiver head still in place just mount your Mic on the head pointed to the dish. I am sure it would not take much fiddli g to find the focus point of the dish.?

According to net satellite dishes are a bit off from true parabolic but still should focus sound well enough to build a good "parabolic" antenna.? ? ? Now here is something to check out. You could build a true parabolic reflector like this one and place your Mic on a holder separate from the reflector.? ?
https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a21833/diy-parabolic-mirror/? ? ? Just some thoughts...

Re: Cheap, Makeshift Parabolic Dishes?

In the past, getting old used satellite dishes was the way, but with modern beamforming they aren't always parabolic anymore and so aren't as common these days, not necessarily cheap, etc.

If you have time to mess around with DIY creation, you can inflate mylar and back it in various ways to make your own:

Hey all -

I'm curious if people here have any recommendations for cheap, makeshift parabolic reflectors? I'd like to experiment a bit with the idea, but I'm hesitant to spend $80 on some meticulously curved glass. Are there any interesting alternatives?

Thanks!
