Finished...ish? I keep getting stuck adding more detail when I'm doing stuff for render. If you zoom in on the side profile, you can see the lines from the lathe.

You would not believe how slow this is. Rendering time with the gold sim: 3m40s. Rendering time without the gold sim (everything else identical except the gold is opaque): 12s. Same samples per pixel

This isn't really on topic, but I wasn't satisfied with any of the existing solutions for rendering the gold trace on the diaphragm in my capsule visualization, so I rigged up my own model. Here it is

Re: Source of dynamic capsules?
Hi JHR! I did buy the capsules I had mentionned in earlier post. Unfortunately I did not test any as ALL these capsules appear made to fit a SM58 body, of which I have none. They do not fit any of the

Re: Would you buy a capsule if it looked like this?

Re: Would you buy a capsule if it looked like this?
The U87i didn¡¯t have a a DC converter, so they couldn¡¯t easily get Fig-8 out of ~40V phantom without treating the capsule as two separate capsules (connected via 4 wires). With a DC converter, the

That will be awesome. My ¡°history¡± shows that Neumann did it to allow for polarity switching for the original U87 backplates for pattern selection. Then after the 87ai came out they changed the

Re: Would you buy a capsule if it looked like this?
The k67 has connected backplates and so does the modern k870 in the u87 AI. The capsule only had isolated backplates for a decade or two for the original u87 That being said, yes it will, because

The ring is the same thickness is on the real capsule so if it doesn't fit in a headbasket that would be weird

Hi Ari - can I presume these capsules have the front and rear backplates isolated like in the older K67? *Phil Manning* *www.foundry85.com <http://www.foundry85.com>** ~ classic recording studio*
