Re: [allowed] Re: [MicBuilders] Recommended operating voltage for TSB 2555
If your delivery address is in Ireland, AddressPal makes things cheaper (~$16.50 from the USA). You still have to pay tax and customs charges but the postage charge and admin charge are much more

Re: Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
Bryan I can't claim I am the best judge of sound either. :) Some days I get lost listening and can't think anymore. lol. I only record vocals so as far as a mic I am more after vocals than anything.

Re: Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
Oh, I probably have other narrations around in my backup hard drives with the original capsule.? And, you might be correct with them using a K12 capsule, however, between the Blue and my 3U Audio CM1

Re: Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
Thank you Bryan for your post! A few thoughts myself. I really wish you had a test with the orginal capsule in the mic. From what I thought the capsule in the baby bottle was the k12 type and I

Re: Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
Bryan so how does it sound with the rk47? I heard it works great for the blue bird since the k12 cap in it has sharp Sss sounds. Baby bottle fixes that issue. I love the sound of both caps. If I ever

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
If you sand the edges with 400 grit and make everything is tight you will be fine. Interestingly I have seen a couple times where. Thought I had a mic body resonance and it was actually the mic stand.

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
Thanks again both! Jules that ringing or and faraday was what I was talking about! I know the BM 800 she'll if hit on accident can produce that tinny sound on the signal while recording. Other than

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
Great question. The body should not affect noise. With that said, I have had issues where it did. One of the functions of the body is to be a faraday cage for the capsule and electronics. If the metal

Re: Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
I just tore one of these down a month ago and dropped a RK47 capsule into it.? The switches have posts that have "Beauty" covers on them that come out of the mic body.? They are basically a gold

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
One option you might like to consider if this really is important to you? If you are building a? 'True Condenser OPA mic' using the circuit in the Instructable, you can gain an extra 2 or 3dB in

Re: Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
Certainly not because of the switches! I see two probable explanations: One is that the measurement method has changed and the first was over optimistic. You must remember that some data are doctored

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
Thank you Jules! Do you think that BM 800 body would having negative effect on self noise and or the sound? I have no issues using one of these for the body. I really like the look of the BM 8000. Not

Blue Baby Bottle SL mic thoughts
Hi everyone, I can't believe I got this off eBay for only $73. The guy that sold it knew nothing and never tested it. The switches are missing but I can use a screwdriver. I was the highest bidder! I

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
Hey Jesse, I have built four of those exact mics and they are really good. Finding donor bodies is the real challenge. I was (and still am a bit) using the "U87" clone bodies from AliExpress. Like

Re: Building a brand new microphone from scratch help
HI again, So after doing a lot of reading this is what I came up with. I believe this is everything I need as far as the microphone is concern? I still need a donor mic and a 5 pin connect and if

Re: Recommended operating voltage for TSB 2555
Some great info! I didn't realize that these capsules are fetless and thus don't need the polarization like I was using on the EM272s. I don't have any OPA164x opamps on hand. How would I modify a
