Re: strange stopping
i will get the USB filter soon and will try a large run of parts. if it still fucks up i will get an ethernet unit. what is recommended to work with the existing PMDX? is the Pokeys DB 25 USB version

I use the WARP9 ethernet ESS with zero noise problems Chuck

I'll second that, ethernet is the way to go.DaveSent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Re: strange stopping
As I previously mentioned, I had lots of noise problems with using USB input on my Pokeys. I eventually unplugged the USB and plugged in an ethernet cable and all my problems went away. Bertho

Re: strange stopping
Hi Roland, I had two years of the same issues. Electrical Noise, random switch triggers, VFD problems, ETC. I switched to PoKeys 57C Ethernet, Encoded servos, MACH4, Everything grounded from one

currently i have a cable soldered to the Pokeys just like the original it has the shield connected only at the pc end.. only difference is that it is a little heavier, maybe more shielding and has

strange stopping
While connecting the shield of a cable at one only seems to be the advice, remember that all standard USB cables have the shield thru connected. I suppose this is good for an ext HDD, but is this

Answering that requires knowledge of the internal circuits of the G320 and is best answered by Gecko themselves. Steve Stallings PMDX _____ Sent: Sunday, March 29, 2020 11:32 PM To:

Re: strange stopping
can i connect the +5 permanently to err/reset with a current limiting resistor maybe 470 ohm? i do appreciate your fine products. i have never had a problem with a PMDX. in the end i will probably

Re: strange stopping
You can short the ERR/RES terminal directly to +5V and to GND. The current limiting is built into the G320. The encoder +5V power should not be shorted to GND, and if you desire to short ERR/RES to

Re: strange stopping
i will take this a step at a time. need to see if the isolation of USB fixes the current problem. if not i need to get a network based unit. so as interesting as your PMDX 126 sounds it might not make

Re: strange stopping
You can tie all of your ERR/RES pins (terminal 5) together. When you do this any individual G320 that has a fault will stop all of the G320s whose ERR/RES pins are tied together. In this

Re: strange stopping
i tend to get thing backwards at times but i thought that the combination err/reset line was pulled high to enable the drive full time. i will check the manual. the manual suggests a "switch" that

Re: strange stopping
Where are you getting the idea that you need to short out the encoder supplies? Gecko 320 drivers use a short between ground and their RST/ERR terminal to disable the driver, but nothing I know of

i am pretty sure i have it wired that way so maybe it is that i have the largest following error selected which is 2048 steps. not sure why i have this, it was a long time ago that i set it up. so i

Re: strange stopping
You can just wire the normally closed fault relay output of your VFD in series with the E-Stop chain connected to your PMDX-126's E-Stop input. The PMDX-126 will stop all step pulses instantly in

so it probably makes more sense to do the stop in the PMDX and not possibly fuck up the gecko encoder supply? i can build a logic device in arduino if necessary but prefer to not have to. i am

Yes. I bought mine when it first came out. Wasn't cheap. But totally worth it. I'd bring it along at lunch and eat and read. I'd read while waiting for my wife. I pick it up often and re-read
